2016–17 Washington Wizards Season
The 2016–17 Washington Wizards season was the 56th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and 44th in the Washington, D.C. area. On April 14, 2016, the Wizards fired Randy Wittman after the team missed the playoffs. On April 26, 2016, the Wizards hired former Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks to be their head coach. The Wizards clinched a playoff berth on their 129–108 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday March 24, 2017 after having a one-season absence from the playoffs. On March 28, 2017, the Wizards defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 119–108 to win their first division title since 1979 ending their 38-year drought when they were named the Bullets. The Wizards finished the regular season with a 49–33 record, securing the 4th seed. Scott Brooks
Scott William Brooks (born July 31, 1965) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the top assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played point guard at San Joaquin Delta College and Texas Christian University before playing his last two years at the University of California, Irvine. He was inducted into UCI's Hall of Fame in 2001. Early life and college Born in French Camp, California on July 31, 1965, Brooks graduated from East Union High School at Manteca, California in 1983. Kristopher Nathan Humphries (born February 6, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). 2016–17 Miami Heat Season
The 2016–17 Miami Heat season was the 29th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After a tumultuous negotiation process, Dwyane Wade decided to leave the Heat and sign with his hometown Chicago Bulls in the offseason. This was the first season without Wade since 2002-03. Although the Heat would re-acquire Wade via a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers a season later, his departure made Udonis Haslem the new longest tenured player on the roster, as Haslem first joined the Heat in August 2003, a month after Wade did. Furthermore, Chris Bosh missed the entire season and had thought about potentially retiring altogether due to his continuous blood clots. Bosh had not played since February 9, 2016. Assignment (NBA D-League)
The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. Sidney Lowe
Sidney Rochell Lowe (born January 21, 1960) is an American former basketball player and coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Lowe played college basketball and served as the head coach at North Carolina State University (NC State). Biography Lowe began his career at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He played collegiate basketball at NC State. He was the point guard for the Wolfpack's 1983 NCAA National Championship.
