2016–17 Sunfoil Series
The 2016–17 Sunfoil Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 5 October 2016 to 12 February 2017. The competition was split into two halves, with the first group of fixtures played in October and November, and the remaining matches played January and February. The series was played alongside the tournament for provincial teams, the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup. Knights won the tournament with an innings victory in their final match. Cricket South Africa (CSA) is the governing body for both professional and amateur cricket in South Africa. In 1991, the separate South African Cricket Union and the South African Cricket Board merged to form the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB), ending enforced racial separation governance in South African cricket. Stephen Craig Cook (born 29 November 1982) is a South African Test cricketer, the son of former Test player Jimmy Cook. Devon Philip Conway (born 8 July 1991) is a South African born New Zealand cricketer who plays for the New Zealand cricket team. Temba Bavuma (born 17 May 1990) is a South African international cricketer who currently is the captain of the South African cricket team in white-ball cricket. Shadley van Schalkwyk (born 5 August 1988) is a South African cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who currently plays for Seattle Thunderbolts & Los Angeles Knight Riders. He was born in Cape Town.
