2016–17 Northern Kentucky Norse Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball team represented Northern Kentucky University (NKU) during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Norse, led by second-year head coach John Brannen, played their home games at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 24–11, 13–6 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for third place. As the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League tournament, they defeated Wright State, Youngstown State, and Milwaukee to win the Horizon League tournament. They received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament in the school's first year of eligibility after its transition to a Division I school. They lost in the first round to Kentucky. John Brannen (basketball)
John Brannen (born January 18, 1974) is an American basketball coach, mostly recently serving as a program analyst and senior special assistant for the University of Dayton Dayton Flyers men's basketball, Flyers. Brannen previously spent two seasons as the men's basketball coach of the University of Cincinnati Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball, Bearcats and four seasons as the head coach for the Northern Kentucky University Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball, Norse. Before that he spent nine seasons as an assistant coach to Anthony Grant (basketball), Anthony Grant at both VCU Rams men's basketball, VCU and Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball, Alabama. Pickerington Central High School
Pickerington High School Central (Pickerington Central, Central, Pick Central, or PHSC) is a public high school in Pickerington, Ohio, United States. It is one of two high schools in the Pickerington Local School District. Their mascot is the Tiger. In 2003, "Pickerington High School" split into two high schools, Pickerington High School Central and Pickerington High School North. Construction of Pickerington High School, which currently houses Pickerington High School Central was completed in the fall of 1991. Jalen Tate
Jalen Tate (born June 18, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Leuven Bears of the BNXT League. He played college basketball for the Northern Kentucky Norse and the Arkansas Razorbacks. High school career Tate attended Pickerington High School Central in Pickerington, Ohio. He helped his team win three district titles and was a two-time All-Ohio Capital Conference selection. In his senior season, Tate averaged 17.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game. College career Eight games into his career at Northern Kentucky, Tate suffered a season-ending injury, breaking the metacarpal bone in his left hand against Norfolk State. Caverna High School
Caverna High School is a small public high school located in Horse Cave, Kentucky, United States. Built in 1950, the school is operated by the Caverna Independent Schools, one of only a handful of school districts in Kentucky that are known to operate across county lines (the others being in Burgin and Eminence, cities near a county line whose districts include a small amount of territory in the nearby county, and Corbin, a city that straddles a county line). Lee's Summit High School is a high school in Lee's Summit, Missouri, United States. It is located near downtown Lee's Summit on Blue Parkway, next to the intersection of U.S. Route 50 in Missouri, U.S. Route 50 and Missouri Route 291, Route 291.
