2016–17 New Zealand Football Championship
The 2016–17 New Zealand Football Championship season (currently known as the Stirling Sports Premiership for sponsorship reasons) was the thirteenth season of the NZFC since its establishment in 2004. Ten teams competed this season with the addition of Eastern Suburbs AFC and Tasman United FC, Tasman United, and with WaiBOP United replaced by Hamilton Wanderers. The competition began on 16 October and ended on 2 April 2017. New Zealand Football Championship
The New Zealand Football Championship () was a men's association football league at the top of the New Zealand league system. Founded in 2004, the New Zealand Football Championship was the successor to a myriad of short-lived football leagues in the country, including the National Soccer League, the National Summer Soccer League and the New Zealand Superclub League. The league was contested by ten teams in a franchise system. For sponsorship reasons, the competition was known as the ISPS Handa Men's Premiership. From the 2021 season, it was replaced by the New Zealand National League. The seasons used to run from October through to April, and consist of an eighteen-round regular season followed by a playoff series involving the four highest-placed teams, culminating in a Grand Final. Sandringham, New Zealand
Sandringham () is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It is a multi-ethnic suburb with a population of over 12,000. Sandringham Village is a walk of a few hundred metres south along Sandringham Rd from the Outer Link bus route, and has a strong South Asian influence in restaurants and small supermarkets, Halal butchers and Bollywood movies. Malcolm McPherson
Malcolm McPherson (born 9 December 1974) is a Scottish football coach and former footballer who played professionally in the Football League for Brentford. He is the former manager of New Zealand clubs Eastern Suburbs and North Shore United AFC. Career Playing career McPherson's playing career started at Yeovil Town where he made his 1st team debut at 17 in the Vauxhall Conference 1992-93 season. Mcpherson was a regular for Yeovil Town playing at their newly built Huish Park Stadium. Mcpherson was in the 14-man squad that defeated Fulham 1-0 in the FA Cup at Huish Park in November 1993. Bill McKinlay Park, (formerly Ireland Road Domain) is a multi-purpose stadium in the suburb of Mount Wellington, New Zealand, Mount Wellington in Auckland, New Zealand. Panmure is an east Auckland suburb, in the North Island of New Zealand. English Park
English Park is a football (soccer), football stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is the home stadium of Canterbury United, which competes in the ASB Premiership, as well as Western AFC which currently compete in the Mainland Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of approximately 3,000 people. English Park was used for cycle racing. Canterbury United Dragons was a semi-professional football club from Christchurch, New Zealand. The team plays most of its matches at English Park in Christchurch, though they occasionally play in Nelson. The club last played in the ISPS Handa Premiership, the now folded top level of football in New Zealand. Hi-Chew
is a Japanese fruit candy sold by Morinaga & Company. Origin Hi-Chew candy was first released in 1975. It was re-released in the packaging of individually wrapped candies in February, 1996. The origins of Hi-Chew began when Taichiro Morinaga sought to create an edible kind of chewing gum which could be swallowed because of the Japanese cultural taboo against taking food out of one's mouth while eating. Morinaga already produced caramel. By combining chewy caramel with flavoring, Morinaga was able to create a new candy called Chewlets in 1931. The business was hampered immensely by World War II and had to be rebuilt from scratch. Chewlets were reintroduced in the form of Hi-Chews, as they are known today.
