2016–17 Mississippi State Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2016–17 Mississippi State Bulldogs basketball team represented Mississippi State University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by second year head coach Ben Howland, played their home games at the Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville, Mississippi as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 16–16, 6–12 in SEC play to finish in 12th place. They defeated LSU in the SEC tournament before losing in the second round to Alabama. Ben Howland
Benjamin Clark Howland (born May 28, 1957) is an American college basketball coach who most recently served as the men's head coach at Mississippi State University from to 2015 to 2022. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Northern Arizona University from 1994 to 1999, the University of Pittsburgh from 1999 to 2003, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2003 to 2013. Howland became the first men's coach in modern college basketball history to be fired shortly after winning an outright power-conference title. He is one of the few NCAA Division I coaches to take four teams to the NCAA tournament. Lamar Johnathan Peters (born June 19, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Karditsa of the Greek Basket League. He played college basketball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Starkville Academy
Starkville Academy (SA) is a private kindergarten through 12th grade school in Starkville, Mississippi, operated by the Oktibbeha Educational Foundation. It was founded in 1969 on property adjacent to Starkville High School as a segregation academy. Tyson Gregory Carter (born January 14, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for Unicaja Málaga of the Spanish Liga ACB, on loan from Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg. Schnider Hérard (born October 7, 1996) is a Haitian basketball player who last played for Sloga Kraljevo of the Basketball League of Serbia. He played college basketball for the Mississippi State. The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners men's basketball represents California State University, Bakersfield in Bakersfield, California, United States. Baldwyn is a city located in Lee and Prentiss counties, Mississippi, located in the northern part of the Tupelo micropolitan area. The population was 3,071 at the 2020 census.
