The 2016–17 Men's FIH Hockey World League Final was the final stage of the 2016–17 Men's FIH Hockey World League, 2016–17 edition of the Men's FIH Hockey World League. It took place between 1 and 10 December 2017 in Bhubaneswar, India. Australia men's national field hockey team, Australia won the tournament for a record second time after defeating Argentina men's national field hockey team, Argentina 2–1 in the final match. India men's national field hockey team, India won the third place match by defeating Germany men's national field hockey team, Germany 2–1. Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar (; ) is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Odisha. Matías Enrique Paredes (born 1 February 1982) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Ducilo and the Argentine national team. Club career Paredes started his club career with Ducilo at age four in his native Argentina, before moving to Germany to play with UHC Hamburg in 2002. He then moved on to the Netherlands to play for Laren. He also played for SCHC in Bilthoven, Netherlands. Lucas Martín Vila (born 23 August 1986) is an Argentine field hockey player who plays for Spanish club Benalmádena as a forward. He made his debut for the national squad in 2005, after having played the Junior World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands. He played a total of 262 times for the Argentina national team until 2021. His older brothers Matías and Rodrigo were also field hockey players for Argentina. International career At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Vila competed for Argentina in the men's tournament. Valentin Verga (born 7 October 1989) is an Argentine-born Dutch field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Amsterdam. Club career Verga has played his whole senior career for Amsterdam. In the Dutch winter break in 2017, he was the first Dutch player to play in the Malaysia Hockey League, he played for Terengganu. Thierry Brinkman (born 19 March 1995) is a Dutch field hockey player who plays as a forward or midfielder for Bloemendaal and the Dutch national team. He is the son of former Dutch international Jacques Brinkman and the brother of Tim Brinkman, a Dutch football player. Club career Thierry started playing hockey at his local club SCHC, whom he left in 2010, to play in the youth ranks of SV Kampong. Cédric Daniel André Charlier (born 27 November 1987) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Racing Club de Bruxelles and the Belgian national team. Diego Arana Antoñanzas (born 12 September 1988) is a Spanish field hockey player who plays as a forward for Jolaseta and the Spanish national team. Club career Arana played in Spain for Jolaseta and Club de Campo until 2014, when he moved to Belgium to play for Braxgata. Pau Quemada Cadafalch (born 4 September 1983) is a Spanish field hockey player who plays a forward for Belgian club Leuven. He played a total of 293 times for the Spanish national team from 2003 until 2021. Club career Quemada played club hockey in Spain for Club Egara before moving to Larensche Mixed Hockey Club in the Netherlands in 2005. He left them after one season because they were relegated. He decided to go to Belgium to play for KHC Leuven, where he played for three seasons, before returning to Spain to play for Real Club de Polo.
