2016–17 Glasgow Warriors Season
The 2016–17 season saw Glasgow Warriors compete in the Guinness Pro12, and the European Champions Cup. Season Overview Coaching changes The season began for Glasgow Warriors when it was announced that this 2016–17 season was to be the last in Head Coach's Gregor Townsend tenure. Townsend was announced to be taking over the Scotland Head Coach role from Vern Cotter in the summer of 2017. Two days later, the SRU quickly named Townsend's successor, New Zealand coach, Dave Rennie, the Head Coach of the Super Rugby side the Chiefs. The Chiefs had won the Super Rugby title twice under Rennie's guidance. Jason O'Halloran and Jonathan Humphreys were later also announced to be joining the Warriors for the 2017–18 season. New pitch To forestall the problems of the 2015–16 season when Scotstoun became unplayable due to flooding, a new 4G pitch was unveiled at Scotstoun Stadium. Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. The side is known for its fast, dynamic and attacking style of play, using offloads and quick rucks. Defensively the club prides itself on its 'Fortress Scotstoun' where the club play at home. Jonathan Humphreys
Jonathan Matthews Humphreys (born 27 February 1969) is a former Wales international rugby union player. He is now an Assistant Coach for Wales. Rugby Union career Playing career Amateur career Humphreys played for Kenfig Hill RFC and Cardiff as a Hooker. Professional career Humphreys went on to become a leading figure and terrace favourite at Cardiff when rugby union became openly professional in 1995. In 2001 / 2002 he had a short stint as a National Development Officers with the Sports Council for Wales. However, in 2002, he signed for Bath Rugby. He was with the club for three years. John Manson
John Manson (born 22 June 1968) is a retired Scottish international rugby union footballer who played with the Caledonia Reds and Glasgow Warriors, two of Scotland's first professional rugby teams. Rugby Union career Amateur career Manson played for Hillfoots, Dundee HSFP, Stirling County, and West of Scotland FC at amateur level. Stuart Yule (born 17 March 1976 in South Africa) is a Scottish rugby union strength and conditioning coach with the Scotland international rugby union side. He was previously a coach at Glasgow Warriors. He previously was a weightlifter and represented Scotland at the sport at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games. Michael Robert Leighton Blair (born 20 April 1981) is a Scottish rugby union coach who was formerly a professional player. He is the head coach of Edinburgh. He played at scrum-half for Glasgow Warriors, Newcastle Falcons, CA Brive and Edinburgh Rugby. Dan McFarland (born 10 April 1972) is an English rugby union coach and former player. He has been head coach of Ulster Rugby since 2018.
