2016–17 FIBA Europe Cup
The 2016–17 FIBA Europe Cup was the 2nd season of the FIBA Europe Cup, a European basketball club competition organised by FIBA Europe. The season began on 18 October 2016, with the regular season, and concluded on April 25, 2017, with the second leg of the Finals. Nanterre 92 was crowned FIBA Europe Cup champions after defeating Élan Chalon. Format changes The regular season phase 1 will be joined by 38 teams, 26 will qualify directly and the other 12 will come from the Basketball Champions League qualifying rounds. These teams will be divided into ten groups, seven groups of four teams and three groups of three teams. The two first qualified teams of each group and the four best third-placed teams (two teams from each Conference) will qualify to the regular season phase 2. 2017 FIBA Europe Cup Final
The 2017 FIBA Europe Cup Final were the concluding games of the 2016–17 FIBA Europe Cup season. The Finals were played in a two-legged format, with the first leg being played on April 19 and the second one on April 26, 2017. The first leg was played at Le Colisée in Chalon-sur-Saône, at the home court of Élan Chalon. The second leg was played at the Palais des Sports Maurice Thorez in Nanterre, at the home court of Nanterre 92. Venue The Le Colisée was the first leg venue as Élan Chalon venue. In the previous season Le Colisée hosted the 2016 FIBA Europe Cup Final Four. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people. The Palais des Sports Maurice Thorez in Nanterre was the home venue of the second leg as the home court of Nanterre 92. The arena was built in 2015 and has a capacity for 3,000 people. CSM Oradea, also known as simply Oradea, is a Romania professional basketball club, based in Oradea, Romania. The club competes in the Liga Națională, the highest level of basketball in Romania. History CSM Oradea was founded in 2003, but the team promoted to the first division in 2005. The team best performance was in 2012 when they reached Romanian Cup semi-finals and in 2013 when the team won the 3rd place.
