2016–17 Connecticut Whale (NWHL) Season
The 2016–17 Connecticut Whale season was the second in franchise history. For their second season, the Whale moved from the Chelsea Piers pavilion in Stamford to the Northford Ice Pavilion (seating capacity 1200), former home of the Quinnipiac Bobcats, in Northford, Connecticut. Heather Linstad
Heather Linstad (born February 26, 1963) is an American ice hockey coach, best known for coaching the UConn Huskies women's ice hockey program during 2000 to 2013 and the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) during the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons. Coaching career Prior to beginning her coaching career, she was a college ice hockey player for the Providence Friars women's ice hockey team and was honored as the ECAC Player of the Year in 1989. She was then head coach for eight seasons at Northeastern Huskies from 1992 to 2000, winning the ECAC coach of the year 1994. In 2000, Linstad became the women's ice hockey coach at the University of Connecticut, coaching the Connecticut Huskies for thirteen seasons. On February 13, 2010, Linstad obtained her 300th win as a head coach, with a 4–1 over her alma mater, the Providence Friars. Quinnipiac Bobcats Women's Ice Hockey
The Quinnipiac Bobcats women's ice hockey program represents Quinnipiac University. The Bobcats have competed in ECAC Hockey since the 2005-2006 season where they replaced Vermont when the Catamounts moved to Hockey East. Prior to that season the Bobcats competed in College Hockey America for the 2004-2005 season, played as a Division I Independent for the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 seasons, and in the ECAC Division I Eastern division for the 2001-2002 season. The Bobcats play in the People's United Center (formerly the TD Bank Sports Center) in Hamden Connecticut. The People's United Center hosted the NCAA Women's Frozen Four in 2014 and 2019. Dani Cameranesi
Danielle Cameranesi (born June 3, 1995) is an American women's ice hockey forward, currently playing for the Minnesota section of the PWHPA. She made her debut for the US national women's team at the 2014 4 Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Jessica "Jess" Koizumi (Ka-Zoo-Me) (born April 15, 1985) is an American ice hockey coach and player, currently serving as the associate head coach of the Vermont Catamounts women's ice hockey program. She won a gold medal as a member of the United States national women's ice hockey team at the 2008 IIHF Women's World Championship. Kelly Babstock (born August 4, 1992) is a Canadian-American ice hockey player who currently plays with the Metropolitan Riveters of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). She has Ojibwe roots and is originally from Little Current on Manitoulin Island, part of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. Bemidji State Beavers Women's Ice Hockey
The Bemidji State Beavers are a women's college hockey team representing Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota, United States. They play at the NCAA Division I level, and compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). History The Bemidji State University intercollegiate women's ice hockey program began competition in the 1998–1999 season. The first head coach was Ruthann Cantile.
