The 2016–17 Adelaide United FC season was the club's 13th season since its establishment in 2003. The club participated in the A-League for the 12th time, the FFA Cup for the 3rd time, as well as the AFC Champions League for the 6th time. Adelaide United FC
Adelaide United Football Club is a professional soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The club participates in the A-League Men under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The club was founded in 2003 to fill the place vacated by Adelaide City and West Adelaide in the former National Soccer League (NSL), and is now the sole team from the state of South Australia in the A-League. Adelaide United's home ground is Coopers Stadium, formally Hindmarsh Stadium. Adelaide United holds the record for the largest win in an A-League game. Adelaide defeated North Queensland Fury 8–1 at Hindmarsh Stadium on 21 January 2011. AFC Champions League
The AFC Champions League (abbreviated as ACL) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation, and contested by Asia's top-division football clubs. It is the most prestigious club competition in Asian football, played by the national league champions (and, for some nations, one or more runners-up) of their national associations. Ben Warland
Ben Warland (born 4 September 1996) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a central defender for Adelaide United. Club career He made his professional debut in the A-League against Melbourne City on 25 April 2015. On 31 January 2018, it was announced that Warland would leave Adelaide United on a -year deal with Sydney FC. Warland made his debut for the club on 13 March 2018. George Mells
George John Mells Jr. (born 23 May 1997) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Port Melbourne. Football career Born in Melbourne, Mells played youth football for Chelsea and Southampton before returning to Australia to make his professional debut for Adelaide United in 2015. His contract with Brisbane Roar was terminated by mutual agreement on 23 February 2021. He played no A-league games for Brisbane Roar. Marc Marino (born 30 April 1996) is an Australian professional footballer who plays a centre forward for National Premier Leagues club Campbelltown City. Career Born in Adelaide, Marino first came to national prominence when he was signed up for the Australian Institute of Sport to play in the National Youth League for the 2012–13 season. Recording six goals in his first season and eight in his second, his first-year performances were good enough to earn him an invitation to train with Adelaide United for two weeks in August 2013. Sergio Cirio Olivares (; born 9 March 1985) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a striker or left winger, currently manager of UD Ibiza B. Marcelo Adrián Carrusca (; born 1 September 1983), is an Argentine-Australian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Born in La Plata, Carrusca started his professional career at Estudiantes de La Plata before moving to Turkish side Galatasaray in 2006. Kim Jae-sung (, born 3 October 1983) is a South Korean professional footballer who plays for Udon Thani. Kim previously played for Bucheon SK and Jeju United. Taylor Francis George Regan (born 16 November 1988) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays as a defender for Charlestown Azzurri. Career Newcastle Jets Regan joined the Jets as part of the youth system in 2008 from state league club Azzurri FC. He captained the team and played primarily as a center back.
