2016 Nine-pin Bowling Single's World Championships
The 2016 World Singles Ninepin Bowling Classic Championships was the sixth edition of the world singles championships and was held in Novigrad, Croatia, from 22 May to 28 May 2018. In the men's sprint and single triumphed Vilmoš Zavarko (Serbia), while gold medal in the combined was won by Serbian Igor Kovačić. In the women's sprint triumphed Beata Włodarczyk (Poland), while in the single and combined Croatian Ines Maričić, who set a new world records in both competitions: 675 pins in single and 876 pins in combined. Mixed tandem rivalry was won by Romanians Luminita Viorica Dogaru and Nicolae Lupu. Novigrad, Istria County
Novigrad ( it, Cittanova) is a town in Istria County in western Croatia. It is also sometimes referred to as Novigrad Istarski () to distinguish it from three other Croatian towns of the same name. The World Singles Ninepin Bowling Classic Championships is a biennial nine-pin bowling competition organized by the World Ninepin Bowling Association (WNBA NBC). The World Championships was started in 2006, after dividing the World Ninepin Bowling Classic Championships, championships into World Team Ninepin Bowling Classic Championships, Team and Singles. During the 2006 World Singles Ninepin Bowling Classic Championships, first championships in Skopje, the pairs event took place for the last time in history. Vilmoš Zavarko (born 14 March 1988 in Bečej) is a Serbian 9 pin bowling player who plays for Serbian national team and Italian club KK Neumarkt - Imperial Life since 2019. Vilmoš Zavarko was the first player to bowl more than 700 pins at a World Championship and is currently considered the best classic bowler in the world. He is a multiple world champion, three times Champions League winner, winner of major tournaments, and holder of many records in the 120-throw system. His personal bests are unofficial world records.
