2016 World Nomad Games
The 2016 World Nomad Games was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan from 3 - 8 September 2016 with 23 sports featured in the games. The program of the second edition included 23 kinds of ethnosport. 40 countries participated in this games. Cholpon-Ata
Cholpon-Ata ( ky, Чолпон-Ата, ''Çolpon-Ata'', چولپون-اتا, pronounced , literally "Venus-father", the name of a mythological protecting spirit) is a resort town on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan with a population of 14,237 (2021). It is the administrative center of the Issyk-Kul District of Issyk-Kul Region; this district occupies most of the lake's north shore. To the west along highway A363 is Tamchy and to the east, Bosteri. The town contains numerous large and small sanatoria, hotels and guesthouses to accommodate the many visitors who descend upon the lake in summer. During the Soviet era it was much frequented by vacationers brought here in organized mass tours from other parts of the USSR. Holidaymakers now usually visit on their own or in small groups and originate mainly from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Almazbek Atambaev
Almazbek Sharshen uluu Atambayev ( ky, Алмазбек Шаршен уулу Атамбаев, translit=Almazbek Şarşen uulu Atambayev; born 17 September 1956) is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 1 December 2011 to 24 November 2017. He was Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan from 17 December 2010 to 1 December 2011, and from 29 March 2007 to 28 November 2007. He served as Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK) from 30 July 1999 to 23 September 2011. In August 2019, Atambayev was imprisoned, facing charges of corruption and manslaughter. On 5 October 2020, election protestors freed him from prison. 2018 World Nomad Games
The 2018 World Nomad Games (Kyrgyz: Дүйнөлүк көчмөндөр оюндары 2018, Russian: Всемирные игры кочевников 2018) was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan from 2–8 September 2018 with 37 sports being featured in the games. Featured sports include eagle hunting, bone throwing and kok-boru. The opening ceremony was attended by President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 2014 World Nomad Games
The 2014 World Nomad Games, officially known as the 1st World Nomad Games, was the inaugural edition held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan from 9–14 September 2014 with 19 sports featured in the games. While organising the first edition of the Games, the Kyrgyz government spent more than 3 million dollars. More than 400 athletes from 20 countries took part in the event. A cultural program The Games are surrounded by a cultural and ethnical program. During the first edition of the Games, a yurt village was installed. World Nomad Games
World Nomad Games ( ky, Дүйнөлүк көчмөндөр оюндары) are an international sport competition dedicated to ethnic sports practiced in Central Asia. The first three World Nomad Games were held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. The fourth games were held in Iznik, Turkey between September 29th and October 2nd 2022. More than 3000 athletes from 102 countries participated in the events.
