2016 Stanford Cardinal Football Team
The 2016 Stanford Cardinal football team represented Stanford University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cardinal were led by sixth-year head coach David Shaw (American football), David Shaw. David Shaw (American Football)
David Lorenzo Shaw (born July 31, 1972) is an American football coach. He served as head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team from 2011 to 2022. Shaw was the team's offensive coordinator for the entire tenure of his predecessor, head coach Jim Harbaugh, from 2007 to 2010. Previously, Shaw was a four-year letter winner playing as a wide receiver for the Cardinal from 1991 to 1994, where he was coached by Dennis Green and Bill Walsh. Prior to returning to Stanford as offensive coordinator, Shaw was Harbaugh's passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego and an assistant coach in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens. Bryce Love
Jonathan Bryce Love (born July 8, 1997) is an American football running back who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Stanford and was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, although he never played in a game with them due to a lingering issue from a knee injury he suffered at Stanford. In his youth, he was also a sprinter specializing in the 200 meters and 400 meters, earning USA Track & Field Youth Athlete of the Year honors in 2009. Christian McCaffrey
Christian Jackson McCaffrey (born June 7, 1996) is an American football running back for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Stanford and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers eighth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. As a sophomore in 2015, McCaffrey was named AP College Football Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. He holds the NCAA record for most all-purpose yards in a season, with 3,864. Keller Chryst
Keller Joseph Chryst (born November 17, 1995) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Tennessee and Stanford. Early years Chryst attended Weddington High School in Weddington, North Carolina for his freshman year before transferring to Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. Lance Taylor (American Football)
Lance Taylor (born July 17, 1981) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Western Michigan University, a position he has held since the 2023 season. Playing career Taylor was a walk-on wide receiver for Alabama from 1999 to 2002, where he played under four different head coaches - Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, and Mike Shula. He eventually would play in 38 consecutive games as a wide receiver and earn a scholarship. As a senior, Taylor was a special-teams captain. Taylor played professional football for the Colorado Crush and Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League, and the Green Bay Blizzard and the Louisville Fire of the AF2. Tavita Pritchard (born February 20, 1987) is an American football coach who is the quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders. He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal, where he was also an assistant coach from 2010 to 2022. The Arizona Wildcats football program represents the University of Arizona (UA) in the sport of American college football. Peter Scott Hansen (born May 30, 1979) is an American football coach and former player who is the linebackers coach for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). Playing career Hansen attended Palo Alto High School where played football for his father, head coach Earl Hansen. Peter quarterbacked the Vikings to their first-ever Central Coast Section in 1995 and scored two touchdowns in a 14–10 win over Saratoga High School in the Division IV finals. Hansen played both football and basketball at the University of Arizona.
