2016 Spring EU LCS
The 2016 European ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (2016 EU LCS) was the fourth season of the European ''League of Legends'' Championship Series. The Spring Split began on January 16, with a rematch of the 2015 EU LCS Summer playoff finals. Most matches were played at a film studio in Adlershof, Berlin. The finals were played in Rotterdam, Netherlands, at the Rotterdam Ahoy. The Summer Split was won by G2 Esports, with a roster of Expect, Trick, PerkZ, Zven, Mithy, Relinquished, Kikis, their first title. Most games were being played at Riot Games' studio in Adlershof, Berlin, Germany. European League Of Legends Championship Series
The ''League of Legends'' EMEA Championship (LEC) is the professional ''League of Legends'' esports league run by Riot Games in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region, in which ten teams compete. Each annual season of play is divided into two splits, spring and summer, both consisting of nine weeks of round-robin tournament play, which then conclude with play-off tournaments between the top six teams. At the end of the season, the top performing teams qualify for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. The LEC represents the highest level of ''League of Legends'' play in the EMEA. With the exception of some touring events, all games of the LEC are played live at Riot Games' studio in Adlershof, Berlin, Germany. Carl Martin Erik Larsson (born 20 September 1996), better known as Rekkles (pronounced "reckless"), is a Swedish professional ''League of Legends'' player for Fnatic. He has played for Fnatic, Alliance, Elements, G2 Esports, and Karmine Corp. Originally from Älvängen, near Gothenburg, Rekkles lives in Berlin during the LEC season. Rekkles lived in the Fnatic gaming house in 2013. He became interested in video games after he injured his cruciate ligament playing football. His esport career took start in 2012, and played for ''League of Legends'' teams Playing Ducks, PAH, Team BLACK (as a substitute) and SK Gaming. In November 2012 he joined Fnatic as their starting Marksman. Rekkles' young age has limited him however, when it prevented him from being able to play in the 2013 EU LCS for Fnatic. Fabian Diepstraten (), better known as Febiven, is a Dutch former professional ''League of Legends'' player. During his career which spanned seven years, he played for several teams, including Misfits Gaming, Clutch Gaming, Fnatic, H2k-Gaming, and Cloud9 Eclipse. Career Febiven first joined Cloud9 Eclipse in the EU CS in January 2014, and this was the start of his eSports career. The team failed to qualify for the EU LCS, however during that time Febiven had attracted the attention of several large organisations. In May 2014, Febiven left Cloud 9 Eclipse to join team H2k-Gaming. On 7 January 2015, H2k-Gaming announced Febiven's departure. He then joined the reinvented team of Fnatic and his performance increased drastically. Lee Da-yoon (), better known as Spirit, is a Korean ''League of Legends'' player who is currently the jungler for the Afreeca Freecs in the LCK. Spirit has previously played for was Fnatic of the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS). He has also played for MVP Blue, Samsung Galaxy Blue, and Team WE. Spirit joined fnatic on December 6, 2015 along with Noh “Gamsu” Yeong-jin. Spirit left Fnatic on September 28, 2016 and returned to Korea, signing for the Afreeca Freecs after FNC failed to qualify for the 2016 League of Legends World Championship. Noh Yeong-Jin ( ko, 노영진), better known as Gamsu, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player. He began his professional esports career with ''League of Legends'', playing as a top laner for several teams, such as Fnatic, Team Dignitas, and Samsung Galaxy Blue. Noh transitioned to professional ''Overwatch'' in 2016, competing for CONBOX in the OGN APEX Series. With the inception of the Overwatch League in 2017, Noh signed with the Boston Uprising before being traded to the Shanghai Dragons a season later.
