2016 Speedway World Cup Event 1
Event One of the 2016 Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup was the opening race of the 2016 edition of the Speedway World Cup. It was staged on 23 July 2016 at Vojens Speedway Center in Vojens, Denmark and was won by Poland from hosts Denmark, Russia, and the Czech Republic. As a result, Poland progressed directly to the 2016 Speedway World Cup Final, while Denmark and Russia progressed to the 2016 Speedway World Cup Race-off. The Czech Republic were eliminated. Piotr Pawlicki Jr. led Poland to the final by scoring 12 points, while Patryk Dudek, who scored 11 points, secured second place in the heat 20 to ensure Poland finished ahead of Denmark. Michael Jepsen Jensen top scored for the Danes with 18 points, while Emil Sayfutdinov was the star of the meeting, scoring 18 points for Russia. Krystian Pieszczek
Kristian Pieszczek (born 23 September 1995) is a Polish speedway rider. Career Born in Gdańsk, Pieszczek first had success as a junior in 2007. He made his Polish league debut in 2011 for Wybrzeże Gdańsk, going on to ride for the club in the Ekstraliga in 2012. He won the Bronze Helmet in 2012 and 2013, and in 2013 was also part of the victorious Polish team in the European Junior Championships. In 2015 he moved to Falubaz Zielona Góra. After finishing seventh in 2014, in 2016 he finished runner-up (to Max Fricke) in the World Under-21 Championship, won the Silver Helmet competition, and finished fourth in the Polish Individual Speedway Championship. He was also part of the Polish team that won the 2016 Speedway World Cup. Josef Franc (born 18 January 1979, in Čáslav, Czech Republic) is a former international motorcycle racer who competed in Grasstrack, Longtrack and motorcycle speedway. Career He has appeared as a track reserve in the 2007 Czech Republic Speedway Grand Prix, scoring three points from two rides and has represented the Czech Republic national speedway team at senior level. Franc was the Czech Republic Under-21 Champion in 1999 and was the Czech Republic national champion in 2017 and 2018. Matěj Kůs (born 11 July 1989) is a Czech international motorcycle speedway racer, Multiple Czech Republic Champion (10 times), and European Pairs Champion (2 times). He has also has raced for several clubs in the British Premier League. His promising career has stopped because of several injuries in the past.
