2016 SheBelieves Cup
The 2016 SheBelieves Cup was the inaugural edition of the SheBelieves Cup, an invitational women's football tournament held in the United States. It took place between March 3 and 9, 2016, before the 2016 Summer Olympics. Teams Squads Format The four invited teams played a round-robin tournament. Points awarded in the group stage followed the standard formula of three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. SheBelieves Cup
The SheBelieves Cup is an invitational women's soccer tournament held in different cities in the United States in late February or early March. In its first three years (2016, 2017 and 2018), it was contested by the same four teams: the United States, England, France, and Germany. Since 2019 the tournament line up had featured different teams each year. The SheBelieves cup is played in late February or early March, at the same time as the Algarve Cup, the Arnold Clark Cup, the Cyprus Cup, the Turkish Women's Cup, the Pinatar Cup and the Tournoi de France. History The SheBelieves movement was inspired by the U.S. Women's National Team in their 2015 run-up to the Women's World Cup. Toni Duggan (born 25 July 1991) is an English footballer who plays as a winger or forward for Everton and the England national team, but is currently on a hiatus/maternity leave, after announcing her pregnancy on 27 September 2022. She has previously played in England for Everton and Manchester City, and in Spain for Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Babett Peter (born 12 May 1988) is a German professional footballer. She plays as a defender for Real Madrid CF. She has also played for Germany. Club career Turbine Potsdam Peter started playing football in primary school. At the age of nine, her parents took her to the local football club FSV Oschatz. She later played for 1. Gilly Louise Scarlett Flaherty (born 24 August 1991) is an English former footballer who last played for FA WSL club Liverpool. Flaherty is a former Arsenal Ladies player who began her career in Millwall Lionesses' youth teams. Crystal Alyssia Soubrier (; born July 3, 1992) is an American soccer player for the Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.
