2016 Scotland Rugby Union Tour Of Japan
In June 2016, the Scotland rugby union team toured Japan, their first tour of the Eastern Asian country since 1989. Scotland went into the tour on the back of two victories and a fourth-place finish in the 2016 Six Nations Championship while Japan entered the series following an eleventh consecutive Asia Rugby Championship title, and a test match against Canada. With the Brave Blossoms new head coach Jamie Joseph not taking over until August 2016, the Sunwolves head coach Mark Hammett acted as caretaker coach for the two-test series. The Queensland Reds is the rugby union team for the Australian state of Queensland that competes in the Southern Hemisphere's Super Rugby competition. Shizuoka Blue Revs (formerly the Yamaha Júbilo) are a rugby union team based in Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan. The team came second behind Toshiba Brave Lupus in the second season of Japanese rugby's Top League (2004–05). They were coached by former All Black Grant Batty and Fijian player-coach Tabai Matson. Saitama Wild Knights (formerly Panasonic Wild Knights) is a Japanese rugby union team formerly based in Ōta city, Gunma prefecture which plays in the Top League. Inspired by Tony Brown at fly half (though he was not captain), it dominated the league in the fifth season and was the first team to be unbeaten throughout a Top League season. Toshiba Brave Lupus Tokyo is a Japanese rugby union team in the Top League. They are based in Fuchu, Tokyo, as is their local rival Suntory Sungoliath. They won the second ever Top League championship in the 2004-5 season and the Microsoft Cup in 2005 under their innovative and inventive coach Masahiro Kunda, himself a former hooker for Toshiba and Japan. Newcastle Falcons is a rugby union team that play in Premiership Rugby, England's highest division of rugby union. The club was established in 1877 as the Gosforth Football Club. Around 1882 the club merged with the Northumberland Football Club and briefly assumed their name until 1887. In 1990, the name was changed to Newcastle Gosforth and the club began to play at Kingston Park stadium in Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. Nathan Mauger
Nathan Keith Mauger (born 8 April 1978 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a rugby union player. He spent the entirety of his Super Rugby career with the Canterbury Crusaders. He played for the All Blacks in 2002 in which he played 2 games but never played a test. He made his debut against Ireland A and played his latest game against Scotland A. His position is centre. He is the brother of All Black, Aaron Mauger. Mauger scored an NPC record 12 tries in the 2001 season for Canterbury. As well as playing for the Crusaders, Mauger also played for Gloucester in England, Treviso in Italy and Ricoh in France. Filogia Ian "Filo" Tiatia (born 4 June 1971 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand international rugby union footballer, best known as a back-row forward and occasional lock for Ospreys (rugby union), Welsh region the Ospreys.
