2016 Scheldeprijs
The 2016 Scheldeprijs is a one-day semi-classic cycling race that took place in Belgium on 6 April 2016. The race began in Antwerp and finished in Schoten, covering a course of . It is rated as a 1.HC event as part of the 2016 UCI Europe Tour. Unlike other spring classics such as Paris–Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, the Scheldeprijs is suited particularly for the sprinters, such as the defending champion, Alexander Kristoff (). Marcel Kittel () and Mark Cavendish () had both won the race three times. The finish was changed from previous years, with two extra corners added in the race finale in an attempt to improve safety. The route was flat throughout and finished with three laps of a circuit in Schoten. The race was won by Kittel in a sprint finish, with Cavendish second and André Greipel () third. 2015 Scheldeprijs
The 2015 Scheldeprijs was the 103rd edition of the Scheldeprijs cycling classic. It took place on 8 April, starting in Antwerp and ending in Schoten. The race was rated as a 1.HC event and was part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour. The Scheldeprijs particularly suited the sprinters as it included several cobbled classics, cobbled roads but no significant climbs. The winner in the previous three editions, Marcel Kittel () was forced to withdraw from the race due to illness; Mark Cavendish (), who had also won the race on three occasions, chose not to participate, as did André Greipel (). The race favourite was therefore Alexander Kristoff (), who had won the 2015 Tour of Flanders, Tour of Flanders the previous weekend. History In 1995 Australian Bill Mitchell, a keen cyclist and professor of economics at the University of Newcastle, created the website titled "Bill’s Cycling Racing Results and News" after finding there was a need for fast-breaking news and race results in English-speaking countries. In 1999 Sydney-based publishing company Knapp Communications purchased the website from Mitchell, and in July 2007 they sold it to British publisher Future plc for £2.2m. In July 2014 it was bought by Immediate Media Company, along with the print-only ''Procycling'' magazine. In February 2019, Immediate Media sold its cycling titles back to Future. Daniel McLay
Daniel "Dan" McLay (born 3 January 1992) is a British racing cyclist, competing in road, track and cyclo-cross, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam . His first season as a professional was 2015, racing for French pro-continental and 2014 Tour de France wildcard outfit . Primarily a sprinter, McLay is also competent in the Flemish racing scene and has a particular affinity to the Northern Classics. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Tour de France. Dylan Groenewegen
Dylan Groenewegen (born 21 June 1993) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He has won five individual Tour de France stages and one team time trial stage. He has also won the Dutch National Road Race Championships, five stages of the Tour of Norway, five stages of the Tour of Britain and three stages of Paris-Nice. Nikias Arndt
Nikias Arndt (born 18 November 1991) is a German professional track and road cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Arndt rode for between 2010 and 2012, before joining the team for the 2013 season. He achieved his first professional victory at the 2013 Arctic Race of Norway, winning the third stage, en route to finishing third overall behind Thor Hushovd and Kenny van Hummel. Niccolò Bonifazio (born 9 October 1993) is an Italian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Early career Bonifazio was born in Cuneo. Bonifazio's professional career began in 2013 when he rode as a stagiaire for UCI WorldTeam . He joined the team the following year as a regular rider. In September 2014, Bonifazio took the biggest victory of his career so far by winning the Coppa Agostoni in a bunch sprint.
