2016 Pakistan Football Federation Cup
The 2016 National Football Challenge Cup or 2016 Pakistan Football Federation Cup was the 26th season of domestic cup tournament in Pakistani football. 24 teams took part in this competition from 28 January 2016 to 22 February 2016, which took place in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Khan Research Laboratories were the defending champions. They defended their title after defeating National Bank 1–0 in the final. Renaming The National Challenge Cup was renamed to Pakistan Football Federation Cup or PFF Cup for unknown reasons. After eight months of no football action, the tournament was announced for 28 January 2016 to 23 February 2016. Format Qualifying round For qualification, 15 teams from PFF League (B Division) and 1 team from the Pakistan Premier League played in a group stage, with winners and runners-up from each group qualifying for the final round. The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ur, پاکستان پریمیئر لیگ) is a Pakistani professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Pakistan football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Football Federation League. Since inception of the Pakistan Premier League in 2004, four clubs have won the title: Khan Research Laboratories (5) WAPDA (4), Pakistan Army (2) and K-Electric (1). The Higher Education Commission (colloquially known as HEC) is a statutory body formed by the Government of Pakistan which was established in 2002 under the Chairmanship of Atta-ur-Rahman. Karachi United Football Club is a Pakistani professional football club based in Clifton, Karachi. Karachi United competed in the Karachi Football League, one of the top leagues of Karachi. It currently competes in the Pakistan Premier League, the first tier of the Pakistani football league system. Formed in 1996, the club turned professional in 2013. In October 2020, the club was promoted to the Pakistan Premier League for the first time, courtesy of a second-place finish in the 2020 PFF League. Gwadar Port Authority
The Gwadar Port ( ur, ) is situated on the Arabian Sea at Gwadar in Balochistan province of Pakistan and is under the administrative control of the Maritime Secretary of Pakistan and operational control of the China Overseas Port Holding Company. The port features prominently in the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) plan, and is considered to be a link between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Maritime Silk Road projects. It is about southwest of Turbat, and to the east of Chabahar Port ( Sistan and Balochistan Province in Iran). Gwadar's potential to be a deep water sea port was first noted in 1954, while the city was still under Omani sovereignty.
