2016 Orienteering World Cup
The 2016 Orienteering World Cup was the 22nd edition of the Orienteering World Cup. The 2016 Orienteering World Cup consisted of 10 individual events and four sprint relay events. The events were located in Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland. The European Orienteering Championships in Jeseník, Czech Republic and the 2016 World Orienteering Championships in Strömstad, Sweden, were included in the World Cup. Matthias Kyburz
Matthias Kyburz (born 5 March 1990) is a Swiss orienteering competitor, junior world champion, European champion and multiple world champion. On 16 April 2020, Kyburz attained the world record in quickest time reaching 50km on a treadmill, in a time of 2:56:35, breaking the record held by Florian Neuschwander. Career He won the sprint distance at the 2012 World Orienteering Championships in Lausanne, ahead of Matthias Merz and Matthias Müller, his first international victory. Kyburz has since been an important competitor on the world stage, an all round orienteer with the ability to win any of the three individual orienteering disciplines. Martin Hubmann (born 14 May 1989) is a Swiss orienteering competitor, world champion and European champion. He was a member of the relay team that won gold medals at the 2012 European Orienteering Championships in Falun. Thierry Gueorgiou
Thierry Gueorgiou (; born 30 March 1979) is a French orienteer who has won more than 20 gold medals in international competitions, including the World Orienteering Championships (WOC) middle distance event eight times: 2003–2005, 2007–2009, 2011 and 2017. In November 2016 it was announced he will become the Swedish national team head coach following the 2017 World Championships. Jerker Lysell (born 27 April 1989) is a Swedish orienteering competitor, and world champion in sprint. Career Lysell won a bronze medal in the sprint at the 2012 European Orienteering Championships in Falun, tying with Daniel Hubmann. He competed at the 2012 World Orienteering Championships. Tanum Municipality (; ''Tanums kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in southwestern Sweden. Its seat is the town of Tanumshede, with 1,600 inhabitants. Florian Howald (born 20 August 1991) is a Swiss orienteering competitor. Gustav Bergman (born 4 December 1990) is a Swedish orienteering competitor. He won a bronze medal in the middle distance at the 2013 World Orienteering Championships. He was born in Stockholm, represents OK Ravinen, and is married to Helena Jansson.
