Tobias Read (born July 1, 1975) is an American politician who is the current Oregon State Treasurer. He was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 27 from 2007–2017, which comprises parts of Beaverton, southwest Portland, and unincorporated Multnomah County, Oregon, Multnomah and Washington County, Oregon, Washington Counties. He served as Speaker Pro Tempore, and was formerly the Democratic Majority Whip (politics), Whip. Chris Telfer is a former Republican and current Independent Party of Oregon politician and Certified Public Accountant in Bend, Oregon, United States. Telfer serves on the Bend City Council, and was elected to the Oregon State Senate in the November 2008 elections, to succeed outgoing Senator Ben Westlund. On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, an election was held in Portland, Oregon, to elect the List of mayors of Portland, Oregon, mayor. Ted Wheeler was elected after garnering 54% of the primary vote. Incumbent mayor Charlie Hales did not seek a second term. Portland uses a nonpartisan system for local elections, in which all voters are eligible to participate. All candidates are listed on the ballot without any political party affiliation. Fifteen candidates competed in a Nonpartisan blanket primary, blanket primary election on May 17, 2016.
