2016 OFC Nations Cup Final
The 2016 OFC Nations Cup Final was a football match that took place on 11 June 2016 at the Sir John Guise Stadium, Port Moresby. It was the final match of the 2016 OFC Nations Cup, the 10th edition of the OFC Nations Cup, a competition for national teams in Oceania. It was contested between New Zealand and hosts Papua New Guinea. It was New Zealand's 5th final, previously having won three of them as well as a fourth title in the round robin system used in the 2008 edition. It was Papua New Guinea's first appearance in a final of the competition. In the group stage, New Zealand topped Group B without dropping a point while Papua New Guinea won Group A on goal difference with two draws and a win. In the semi-finals New Zealand beat New Caledonia 1–0 and Papua New Guinea beat Solomon Islands 2–1. Neither team managed to score in 90 minutes so the game went to extra time. 2016 OFC Nations Cup
The 2016 OFC Nations Cup was the tenth edition of the OFC Nations Cup, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Oceania organised by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). The tournament was played between 28 May and 11 June 2016 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The winner (New Zealand) qualified for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia. Similar to the previous edition in 2012, the group stage of the tournament also doubled as the second round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification tournament for the Oceania region. The top six teams of this tournament (i.e. the top three teams of each group in the group stage) advanced to the third round of World Cup qualifying, to be played between March and October 2017, with the winners of the third round proceeding to the inter-confederation play-offs in November 2017. Solomon Islands National Football Team
The Solomon Islands national football team is the national football team of the Solomon Islands, administered by the Solomon Islands Football Federation. The Solomon Islands national football team was founded in 1978. They were officially recognised by FIFA a decade later, in 1988. 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup was the 10th and final edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup, a quadrennial international men's football tournament organised by FIFA. It was held in Russia, from 17 June to 2 July 2017, as a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Russia was announced as the host on 2 December 2010 after the country was awarded the hosting rights of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The matches were played in four stadiums in four cities: Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, and Sochi. It was the first time Russia had hosted the tournament, and the third time the Confederations Cup was held in the European continent. Marco Rodrigo Rojas (born 5 November 1991) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a forward for Chilean side Colo-Colo and the New Zealand national team. Jeremy Russell Brockie (born 7 October 1987) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a forward.
