2016 NCHC Tournament
The 2016 NCHC Tournament was the third tournament in league history. It was played between March 11 and March 19, 2016. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the final four games were played at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By winning the tournament, St. Cloud State received the NCHC's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Format The first round of the postseason tournament features a best-of-three games format. All eight conference teams participate in the tournament. Teams are seeded No. 1 through No. 8 according to their final conference standing, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with an identical number of points accumulated. The top four seeded teams each earn home ice and host one of the lower seeded teams. The winners of the first round series advance to the Target Center for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. 2015–16 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 2015 and ended with the 2016 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament's championship game on April 9, 2016. This was the 69th season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held, and the 122nd year overall in which an NCAA school fielded a team. On January 22, 2016, Boston College coach Jerry York became the first NCAA hockey coach to win 1,000 games and only the second coach in the professional or amateur level to achieve 1,000 wins. The only other coach to achieve this feat was Scotty Bowman. Cam Johnson (ice Hockey)
Cam Johnson (born July 11, 1994) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently under contract to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). He was an All-American for North Dakota. Playing career Johnson began attending the University of North Dakota in the fall of 2014 and served as the backup to Zane McIntyre during his freshman year. McIntyre signed professionally after the year, giving Johnson a shot at the starting job. He eventually won the position and backstopped the newly named Fighting Hawks to a first place finish. He was named an All-American for the year but faltered in the conference semifinals. Fortunately, the team's record was good enough to earn the #3 overall seed and UND went on a run through the NCAA Tournament. While the offense averaged 5 goals a game, Johnson didn't allow more than 2 goals in any of the four matches. Patrick Newell (ice Hockey)
Patrick Newell (born January 18, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He played collegiate ice hockey for St. Cloud State University where he earned All-USCHO First Team, NCHC Forward of the Year, and CM/AHCA All-America honors. Early life Newell was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California. He first began playing organized hockey with the West Valley Wolves when he was eight years old. His father John played hockey growing up, which inspired Newell to take up the sport himself. He originally tried out rollerblading at the Rollerdome before committing to hockey. Kalle Kossila
Kalle Kossila (born 14 April 1993) is a French-born Finnish professional ice hockey centre. He is currently playing for Växjö Lakers in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Kossila spent time in North America as part of the Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs organizations. His biological parents are Finnish.
