2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship
The 2016 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship is the 28th women's collegiate field hockey tournament to determine the top NCAA Division II college field hockey team in the United States. The semifinals and championship match will be played at W.B. Mason Stadium at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts from November 18 to 20, 2016. Shippensburg defeated LIU Post, 2–0, in the final, the Raiders' second national title. Qualified teams * The total number of teams remained fixed at 6. Teams qualified for the tournament based on their regional rankings at the end of the season, with the top three teams from each region making the final bracket. NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship
The NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship is an annual single-elimination tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the national champion of women's NCAA Division III, Division III collegiate field hockey in the United States. The tournament has been held every year since 1981. The tournament also included teams from NCAA Division II, Division II between 1984 and 1991 due to a lack of programs in that division; the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship resumed in 1992. The most successful team is TCNJ Lions, The College of New Jersey, with 11 titles. The NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship is an American intercollegiate field hockey tournament conducted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and determines the Division I national champion. The championship is contested exclusively by women's teams and there is no equivalent NCAA men's championship. The tournament has been held annually since 1981. The most successful team is the North Carolina Tar Heels, who have ten titles. In addition, North Carolina has finished national runner-up an NCAA record eleven times. Easton, Massachusetts
Easton is a town in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 25,058 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Greater Boston area. Easton is governed by an elected Select Board. Open Town Meeting acts as the legislative branch of the town. The Select Board chooses a Town Administrator to run the day-to-day operations of the town. LIU Post Pioneers
The LIU Post Pioneers (also Long Island–Post Pioneers and formerly the C.W. Post Pioneers) were the athletic teams that represented the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, located in Brookville, New York, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports through the 2018–19 school year. The Pioneers most recently competed as members of the East Coast Conference for most sports; the football team was an affiliate of the Northeast-10 Conference. LIU Post had been a member of the ECC since 1989, when the league was established as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference.
