2016 Indian Open
The 2016 Indian Open was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 5–9 July 2016 at the HICC Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad, India. It was the second ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. Hyderabad hosted the event for the first time, the previous venue being Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. Michael White was the defending champion, but he lost 1–4 against Anthony Hamilton in the held over qualifying round. Anthony McGill won the first ranking title of his career, defeating Kyren Wilson 5–2 in the final. Indian Open (snooker)
The Indian Open is a professional ranking snooker tournament. Matthew Selt is the reigning champion. History The event was introduced in the 2013/2014 season and it is the first ever ranking event to be held in India. The inaugural event was held between 14 and 18 October 2013 at the Le Meridian Hotel in New Delhi. The Billiards and Snooker Federation of India has signed a three-year contract for the tournament. In August 2014, it was announced that the event will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. In September 2014, it was announced that the event has been postponed due to the State Election in Maharashtra, with the original dates of 13–17 October 2014 changed to 10–14 March 2015. The qualifying round held at the Barnsley Metrodome in Barnsley was due to take place from 18 to 21 September 2014 and has been moved to 12–13 February 2015. Fang Xiongman
Fang Xiongman (,born 9 April 1993) is a former Chinese professional snooker player. Career Fang began competing at professional events in 2012, which included Asian Tour events as well as wildcard rounds of ranking tournaments. His most notable win as an amateur came at the 2015 Shanghai Masters, where he defeated Jamie Jones 5–1 in the wildcard round, but went on to get eliminated 5–2 by Stuart Bingham in the last 32. In 2016, Fang managed to receive a two-year tour card for the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons after successfully qualifying through Q School, beating Daniel Womersley 4–3 in the final round of the event. Manan Chandra (born 28 February 1981 in New Delhi) is an Indian amateur snooker and pool player. Chandra reached the semi-final at the 2006 IBSF World Championships in Amman, Jordan, where he was eliminated by Daniel Ward 8–7. Andrew Higginson (born 13 December 1977) is an English former professional snooker player from Widnes, Cheshire. He is best known for being the surprise finalist of the 2007 Welsh Open. Fraser Patrick (born 8 November 1985) is a Scottish professional snooker player from Glasgow. Career Patrick started his professional career in 2002 by playing Challenge Tour, where he spent three seasons without success. Maximum Break
A maximum break (also known as a maximum, a 147, or orally, a one-four-seven) is the highest possible in a single of snooker. A player compiles a maximum break by potting all 15 with 15 for 120 points, followed by all six for a further 27 points. Compiling a maximum break is regarded as a particularly significant achievement in the game of snooker, and may be compared to a nine-dart finish in darts or a 300 game in ten-pin bowling. The first officially recognised maximum break was made by Joe Davis in a 1955 exhibition match in London.
