Rostislav Yankovsky
Rostislav Ivanovich Yankovsky ( be, Расціслаў Іванавіч Янкоўскі, russian: Ростислав Иванович Янковский; 5 February 1930 – 26 June 2016) was a Belarusian actor. He was born in Odessa on 5 February 1930, studied in Leninabad and debuted in the Tajik theatre in 1951. Since 1957, he worked in the Minsk Drama Theatre. Yankovsky was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1978. He is the older brother of the more famous Oleg Yankovsky. His son Igor Yankovsky is also an actor. In 1994 he became the Chairman of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad. He died in Minsk on 26 June 2016 in Minsk, Belarus, aged 86. Leanid Marakou ( be, Леанід Маракоў; russian: Леонид Моряков; April 15, 1958 in Minsk – December 17, 2016) was a Belarusian journalist, writer. Biography Marakou ( Belarusian: Леанід Маракоў, Russian: Леонид Моряков, pseudonyms: Vladimir Moryakov, Anatole Sinchukousky) graduated from the Minsk Radioengineering Institute in 1984. He worked as a maintenance engineer at the Minsk Computer Plant, then at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. In 1990s, Marakou became an importer of electronic equipment. Pavel Grigorievich Sheremet (russian: Павел Григорьевич Шеремет, be, Павел Рыгоравіч Шарамет, 28 November 1971 – 20 July 2016) was a Belarusian-born Russian and Ukrainian journalist who was imprisoned by the government of Belarus in 1997, sparking an international incident between Belarus and Russia. ''The New York Times'' has described him as "known for his crusading reports about political abuses in Belarus" and "a thorn in the side of Lukashenko's autocratic government". He was awarded the Committee to Protect Journalists' International Press Freedom Award in 1999 and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Prize for Journalism and Democracy in 2002. Stepan Markovich Bondarev (; 9 April 1923 9 June 2016) was a Soviet Army lieutenant general. He fought in World War II as a tank company commander. Postwar, he was commander of the 29th Army and deputy commander of the North Caucasus Military District and the Northern Group of Forces. Early life Bondarev was born on 9 April 1923 in the village of Lenino in Terekhovsky District (now Dobrush District). He graduated from school in the village. He then took nine-month training courses for fifth to seventh grade teachers at the Gomel Pedagogical Institute. Bondarev graduated in 1940 and was sent to Brest. He became a teacher in the village of Lyubischitsy. World War II Bondarev fought in World War II from its early days, initially as a private.
