2016 Hungaroring GP2 And GP3 Series Rounds
The 2016 Hungaroring GP2 Series round was a GP2 Series motor race held on 23 and 24 July 2016 at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Pest, Hungary. It was the sixth round of the 2016 GP2 Series. The race weekend supported the 2016 Hungarian Grand Prix. Report Qualifying Pierre Gasly secured his second pole position of the year in dominant fashion. With a time of 1:25.612, Gasly was over half a second faster than nearest competitor, Sergey Sirotkin. Prema Racing team-mate, Antonio Giovinazzi achieved third with a time eight-tenths adrift of Gasly's time. Feature Race Gasly took his second win of the season from Sergey Sirotkin and Antonio Giovinazzi. Sprint Race Sirotkin controlled the race to take his first win of the season from the Racing Engineering pair of Jordan King and Norman Nato. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. Arthur Pic (born October 5, 1991) is a French retired racing driver. He competed in the GP2 Series between 2014 and 2016. Career Karting Like most top-line drivers, Pic began his racing career in karting, contesting the 2005 French Junior Championship whilst also taking a third-place finish at the Bridgestone Cup and runner-up spot in Spain's Champions Cup at El Vendrell. Sergio Canamasas Español (born 30 April 1986) is a former racing driver from Spain. Career Formula Three Canamasas made his Formula racing debut in 2007, racing in the Spanish Formula Three Championship for the Cetea Sport team. He took part in the final eight races of the season and was entered into the secondary Copa de España class for the older Dallara F300 chassis. He took a single class podium in the final round in Barcelona to finish eighth in the standings. The following season, Canamasas moved up to the main class with the team, but failed to score a point in the fourteen races he contested. Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. In 1998 the team began by competing in the new Open Fortuna by Nissan, with Marc Gené and Antonio García as drivers. Gustav Malja (born 4 November 1995) is a Swedish racing driver. Career Karting Born in Malmö, Sweden, Malja began his karting career in Formula Micro in 2006, winning the Gunnar Nilsson Memorial trophy the following year. By 2009 he had progressed up to the KF3 category, where he won the Swedish Championship and Gothenburg Grand Prix. Nicholas Daniel Latifi (born 29 June 1995) is a Canadian racing driver who last raced for Williams Racing under the Canadian flag in the 2022 Formula One World Championship. Latifi made his Formula One debut at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix and has served as a test and reserve driver for Renault, Force India and Williams.
