The 2016 Highlands 101 was an endurance race staged at the Highlands Motorsport Park, near Cromwell, in Otago, New Zealand on 13 November 2016. It was the fourth running of the Highlands 101. It was also the final round of the Australian GT Championship. Highlands 101
The Highlands 101 is an endurance motor race which is held at Highlands Motorsport Park near Cromwell, New Zealand. The race for GT cars was established in 2013 as the showpiece event for the newly opened racetrack. The race runs for 101 laps of the 4.1 km circuit for a total race distance of . From 2016, the race is run as a round of the Australian Endurance Championship. Background The race attracts a large field of cars from Australia and New Zealand. The final round of the Australian GT Championship is held each year on the Saturday of the Highlands 101 race weekend, ensuring a large field of Australian racing teams as well as New Zealand teams who enter independent of the Australian series entry. Shae Davies (born 8 March 1990) is an Australian professional racing driver. A Super2 Series veteran, Davies briefly drove for Erebus Motorsport during the 2016 V8 Supercars season. He currently competes in the S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship and Tasman Series. Marcus Marshall (born 25 November 1978) is a former Champ Car driver from Australia. Biography He began racing in British Formula Three, where he was generally a running outside the top ten, but took a hard-fought win in a wet race. He contested 12 races in 2005 for Derrick Walker's renamed Team Australia Racing.
