2016 Ghana Music Awards
The was the 17th edition of the Ghana Music Awards which was held on May 7, 2016, at the Accra International Conference Center in Accra, Ghana and was hosted by Chris Attoh, DJ Black and Naa Ashorkor. E.L was the biggest winner at the event, taking home a total of five awards including the coveted 'Artiste of the Year' with Sarkodie and Bisa Kdei won four awards each. These musicians, alongside Stonebwoy, Efya, R2Bees, Wizkid, Joe Mettle and Adomaa, performed at the event. Accra International Conference Center
The Accra International Conference Centre is an events venue in Accra, Ghana. DJ Black
Ricardo Alexander O’Neil Weeks (born 2 July 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Black or DJ Negro, is a Panamanian recording artist, songwriter, producer and music executive. In 2008 DJ Black wrote the smash hit "Chucha Su Madre" which was the number one record in Panama for several months. Since 2008, DJ Black's song "Chucha Su Madre" has been the subject of both controversy and praise. It went straight to number 1 in the Panama radio and video charts and was featured in Carnival 2008. Due to its use of the words "Chucha Su Madre"(which in English translation means "Mother Fucker") the government of Panama censored the song. This action meant that DJ Black was unable to claim the official "El Rey De Carnival" crown. Pat Thomas (Ghanaian Musician)
Pat Thomas (born Nana Kwabena Amo Mensah; August 14, 1946) is a Ghanaian vocalist and songwriter. He is widely known for his work in highlife bands of Ebo Taylor. Early life and education Pat Thomas was born in the Ashanti region of Ghana. His father was a music theory instructor and his mother a bandleader. Career He started his musical career in the 1960s where he collaborated with Ebo Taylor. In 1974, he formed the band "Sweet Beans" and with them, he recorded his first album ''False lover''. He recorded his second album "''Pat Thomas Introduces Marijata"'' with the band Marijata. After the coup in Ghana in 1979, he relocated to Berlin and later settled in Canada. Kofi Kinaata
Martin King Arthur (born 15 April 1990) popularly known as Kofi Kinaata is a Ghanaian musician and songwriter from Takoradi. He is noted for his Fante rap and freestyle and therefore known as the Fante Rap God (FRG). Apart from his rap prowess, he has grown into a very good singer taking the highlife genre by storm.
