2016 GCC Champions League
The GCC Champions League ( ar, دوري أبطال الخليج للأندية), is an annually organized football league tournament for club of the Arabian Peninsula. The 2016 edition was set to be the 31st edition. On August 6, 2015 it was announced that the competition would be postponed until February 2016 due to the suspension of Kuwait from FIFA. Later in January 2016 it was announced that the competition would not take place at all due to a lack of sponsorship. The next edition would therefore be held in 2017. Al Jahra Sporting Club ( ar, نادي الجهراء الرياضي) is a Kuwaiti professional football club based in Jahra. They won the Kuwaiti Premier League once, in 1990. They participated in the Kuwaiti Premier League 21 times, most recently in the 2007–2008 season. Al Jahra reached the Kuwait Emir Cup final twice in recent times, 1996 and 2002, where they lost to Al Arabi 1–2 and Kuwait Club 0–1. Baniyas F
Baniyas ( ar, بَانِيَاس ') is a Mediterranean coastal city in Tartous Governorate, northwestern Syria, located south of Latakia (ancient Laodicea) and north of Tartous (ancient Tortosa). It is known for its citrus fruit orchards and its export of wood. North of the city is an oil refinery, one of the largest in Syria, and a power station. The oil refinery is connected with Iraq with Kirkuk–Baniyas pipeline (now defunct). Al-Faisaly FC ( ar, نادي الفيصلي) is a Saudi Arabian football team playing in the Saudi Professional League, based in Harmah City with a population of around 15,000 people. The club is named after King Faisal (r. 1964–75); he was crown prince at the time of the club's founding. History Al-Faisaly finished as the runner-up in the 2005–06 first division season, thus becoming the first club from the Sudair region to achieve promotion to the top flight but went straight back down after just one season. 2014–15 Saudi Professional League
The 2014–15 Saudi Professional League (known as the Abdul Latif Jameel Professional League for sponsorship reasons) was the 39th season of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. The season began on 8 August 2014 and ended on 18 May 2015. Al-Nassr were the defending champions having won their sixth title last season. The league was contested by the 12 teams from the 2013–14 season as well as Al-Khaleej and Hajer, who joined as the promoted clubs from the 2013–14 First Division. They replace Al-Ettifaq and Al-Nahda who were relegated to the 2014–15 First Division. Al Fateh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الفتح الرياضي) is a Saudi Arabian multi-sports club based in Al-Mubarraz, Al-Ahsa. It is mainly known for its professional football club. The club derives its nickname, "Al-Namothaji" (T''he Paragon''), from the fact that almost all of the club's sports play in the national top flights. Al-Arabi Sports Club ( ar, النادي العربي الرياضي) is a Qatari sports club based in Doha. Founded in 1952, the most prominent team of the club is the football team that competes in the Qatar Stars League. The 2014–15 Qatari League, also known as Qatari Stars League, was the 42nd edition of top-level football championship in Qatar. The season started on 21 August 2014.
