A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. This history has meant that variations of the sport were created and still exist. Igor Polyanskiy (triathlete)
Igor Andreyevich Polyanski (russian: Игорь Андреевич Полянский, also transliterated as Polyanskiy or Polyansky), born 16 January 1990 in Zhelesnogorsk), is a Russian professional triathlete, Russian Sprint Champion 2010 and a permanent member of the Russian national team. He tested positive for doping at the 2020 Summer Olympics and might get suspended pending further review. Career Polyanski placed 13th (junior category) in the Russian Cup of the year 2009, and 6th at the Junior World Championships. Alexander Amos Yee (born 18 February 1998) is a British professional triathlete and distance runner. He won the silver medal in the Men's Triathlon at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the gold medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Saturday 31 July 2021. He is also the 2022 Commonwealth Games triathlon champion in both the men's and mixed team events.
