2016 Dr McKenna Cup
The 2016 Dr McKenna Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup, was an inter-county and university Gaelic football competition in the province of Ulster. Twelve teams take part – the nine Ulster county teams and three university' teams i.e. St Mary's University College, Belfast, Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University. Tyrone won for the fifth year in a row. Format Group Stage The teams are drawn into three groups of four teams. Each team plays the other teams in its group once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. Knock-out Stage The three group winners, and the best runner-up progress to the semi-finals with the two winners progressing to the final. Mickey Harte
Mickey Harte (born 1952) is an Irish Gaelic football Manager (Gaelic games), manager and former player. He has been manager of the Louth county football team, Louth county team since 2020. Harte managed the Tyrone county football team, Tyrone county team from 2002 until his resignation in 2020, at which time he was the longest-serving manager then active with the same team in inter-county competition. He is the most successful senior manager in the county's history, having led it to its only three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, All-Ireland SFC titles, as well as six Ulster Senior Football Championship, Ulster SFC titles, one National Football League (Ireland), National League and twelve Dr McKenna Cups. Cavan GAA
The Cavan County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae an Chabháin) or Cavan GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Cavan. The County Board is responsible for preparing the Cavan county teams in the various Gaelic sporting codes; football, hurling, camogie and handball. The Athletic Grounds ( ga, Páirc Lúthchleasaíochta) is a GAA stadium in Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is the county ground and administrative headquarters of Armagh GAA and is used for both Gaelic football and hurling. Uses The stadium is the county ground of Armagh GAA, i.e. the primary stadium in the county, and as such is used for higher profile games such as county finals and inter-county matches in the national leagues and Ulster and All-Ireland Championships.
