2016 Colorado Senate Election
The 2016 Colorado State Senate elections were held on November 8, 2016 to elect 18 of the 35 members of Colorado's Senate. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and state senate. The primary election was held on June 28, 2016. There was no change in the composition of the Senate as both Democrats and Republicans gained one seat each, winning 10 and 8 seats respectively. Colorado Senate
The Colorado Senate is the upper house of the Colorado General Assembly, the state legislature of the US state of Colorado. It is composed of 35 members elected from single-member districts, with each district having a population of about 123,000 as of the 2000 census. Senators are elected to four-year terms, and are limited to two consecutive terms in office. The Colorado Senate convenes at the State Capitol in Denver. Colorado's 4th Senate District
Colorado's 4th Senate district is one of 35 districts in the Colorado Senate. It has been represented by Republican Mark Baisley since 2023. Prior to redistricting the district was represented by Republicans Jim Smallwood and Mark Scheffel. Geography District 4 is based in Douglas County on the southern outskirts of Denver, including Castle Pines, Castle Rock, Larkspur, Parker, Perry Park, The Pinery, and the southern tip of Aurora.
