2016 China Open (tennis)
The 2016 China Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 18th edition of the China Open for the men (20th for the women). It was part of ATP World Tour 500 series on the 2016 ATP World Tour, and the last WTA Premier Mandatory tournament of the 2016 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events were held at the National Tennis Center in Beijing, China, from October 3 to October 9, 2016. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Dominic Thiem (; born 3 September 1993) is an Austrian professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 3 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals, which he first achieved in March 2020. He is the second-highest ranked Austrian player in history, behind former world No. 1 Thomas Muster.
