The 2016 Cary Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the 2nd edition of the tournament which was part of the 2016 ATP Challenger Tour. Hardcourt
A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. It is typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic resins to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these surfaces are rare now. Tennis Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, as with grass courts but unlike clay courts. Frances Tiafoe
Frances Tiafoe Jr. ( ; born January 20, 1998) is an American professional tennis player. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) has ranked Tiafoe as high as world No. 17 in singles, on October 10, 2022, and world No. 160 in doubles, on November 1, 2021. Tiafoe won his first and only ATP title at the 2018 Delray Beach Open, becoming the youngest American man to win a tournament on the ATP Tour since Andy Roddick in 2002. Ryan Shane
Ryan John Shane (born April 15, 1994) is an American professional tennis player. He played college tennis at the University of Virginia. On May 25, 2015, Shane won the NCAA Men's Singles Championship. This victory also earned him a wild card into the main draw of the 2015 US Open. Early life Ryan's parents are Alaine and Jack Shane. He has an older brother, Justin, who also played on the Virginia tennis team, and a younger brother named Zachary. In the summer months growing up Ryan’s family would vacation to Franklin, New Hampshire; where there was a family tennis court that got good use from the Shane brothers. Brayden Schnur
Brayden Schnur (born July 4, 1995) is a Canadian professional tennis player. Schnur reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 92 in August 2019. He was a part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill tennis team from January 2014 to May 2016. Schnur turned professional in July 2016 at the Rogers Cup. Early life Schnur was born in Pickering, Ontario, to Chris Schnur and Anne-Marie Nielsen; he has a younger sister named Amanda. Ernesto "Neto" Escobedo III ( ; , born July 4, 1996) is a Mexican-American professional tennis player who has won four ATP Challenger titles. Stefan Kozlov (, ; born February 1, 1998) is an American professional tennis player of Russian descent. Austin Krajicek (born June 16, 1990) is an American professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP ranking in doubles of World No. 9 achieved on 7 November 2022 and in singles of World No. 94 achieved on October 26, 2015. Dennis Novikov (born 6 November 1993 in Moscow, Russia) is an American professional tennis player born in Russia. He won both the singles and doubles titles at the USTA Boys 18s National Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2012.
