2016 Carrom World Championship
The 2016 Carrom World Championship, was the 7th edition of an international Carrom tournament governed by the I nternational Carrom Federation, contested from 7 to 11 November 2016 in Birmingham, United Kingdom The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a country in Europe, off the north-western coast of the European mainland, continental mainland. It comprises England, Scotlan .... Fifteen countries had competed in the tournament. Indian and Sri Lankan players would be defending their titles in the Men's, Women's and Doubles categories. This edition was considered to be the largest so far with over 15 countries participating in the elite event including the likes of USA, Germany, Canada, France and Italy. International Carrom Federation
The International Carrom Federation (ICF) is the international governing body for the game of carrom. Such an organisation was first proposed in the 1950s, but the ICF was not formed until October 1988, when delegates from India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Malaysia, Germany and Switzerland met in Madras, India, for the first World Carrom Congress, at which the ICF was formed and an international set of rules was adopted. Prashant More is an Indian carrom player. He is a two time carrom world champion in 2016 and 2018. Career Prashant won his first world title in men's singles at the 2016 Carrom World Championship. He was also a member of the Indian team which emerged as runners-up to Sri Lanka in the men's tournament at the 2016 World Championships. He defended his men's singles world title at the 2018 Carrom World Cup which was also his second individual World title. He was part of the Indian squad which lost to Sri Lanka in the finals of the 2018 Carrom World Cup. He became runners-up to fellow Indian Irshad Ahmed Ansari in the men's singles final of the 8th Carrom ICF Cup 2019 despite having an early advantage in the final.
