2016 Boca Raton Bowl
The 2016 Boca Raton Bowl was a post-season American college football bowl game played on December 20, 2016 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida. The third annual edition of the Boca Raton Bowl was one of the 2016–17 bowl games concluding the 2016 FBS football season. Team selection The game typically features conference tie-ins from the American Athletic Conference and the Mid-American Conference. However, the 2016 participants were the University of Memphis Tigers of the AAC and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, who won the championship of Conference USA. This was the sixth meeting between the schools, with the all-time series tied 2–2–1. The most recent meeting was on October 27, 1956, where the Tigers (then known as the Memphis State Tigers) defeated the Hilltoppers by a score of 42–0. FAU Stadium
Howard Schnellenberger Field at FAU Stadium is a college football stadium located at the north end of the main campus of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Boca Raton, Florida. Opened in 2011, it is home to the Florida Atlantic Owls football team and is intended to be the first part of FAU's multi-use development project, "Innovation Village" as a replacement for Lockhart Stadium After selecting an architect in 2008, the university began to raise funds for the $70 million facility with the intent to begin construction in 2009. The $70 million stadium was funded through student fees, private donations, and naming rights partnerships, some of which have yet to be determined. 1956 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Football Team
The 1956 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team represented Western Kentucky State College (now known as Western Kentucky University) as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) during the 1958 NCAA College Division football season. Led by Jack Clayton in his ninth and final year as head coach, the Hilltoppers compiled an overall record of 5–4 with a mark of 2–3 in conference play, tying for third place in the OVC. Patrick O'Neal Taylor Jr. (born April 29, 1998) is an American football running back for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Memphis. He was drafted in the third round by the Tennessee Titans in 2017 and he played college football at Western Kentucky. Michael White (born March 25, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played his first two years of college football at South Florida and his last two at Western Kentucky. White was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent one season, before joining the Jets the following year.
