2016 Bacolod Local Elections
Local elections were held in Bacolod on May 9, 2016, as part of the Philippine general election. The elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, the congressman, and twelve councilors, were filled in. Background Former Mayor, now Bacolod Representative, Evelio Leonardia served out his term limitation for the mayoralty post as Bacolod's lone district representative to Congress. Evelio Leonardia
Evelio Ramos Leonardia (born 10 July 1952), sometimes known as Bing Leonardia, is a Filipino realtor, lawyer, and politician who was the 36th Mayor of Bacolod. He served as Vice Mayor of the City of Bacolod from 1992 to 1995 under Alfredo Montelibano and represented the Lone District of Bacolod from 2013 to 2016. Early life Evelio Leonardia was born to a Court of First Instance Clerk of Court Jose Tulo Leonardia, and Ester Javier Ramos, a housewife on July 10, 1952, in Bacolod, Philippines. He had nine siblings. Education Leonardia graduated highschool from La Consolacion College-Bacolod, and in 1973 earned his degree of Bachelor of Science in commerce from then La Salle College-Bacolod, now University of St. La Salle, graduating ''cum laude''. Monico Puentevella
Monico Ogtong Puentevella (born 2 July 1946 in Bacolod, Negros Occidental) is a Filipino politician. Formerly a member of Lakas-Kampi-CMD, he was elected to three terms as a member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing the Legislative district of Bacolod City. He was first elected to Congress in 2001, and was re-elected in 2004 and 2007. He was also the mayor of Bacolod from 2013 to 2016. He finished both his elementary and secondary education at the De La Salle Bacolod in 1962 and 1965, respectively. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from De La Salle University Manila in 1960. He further pursued Professional Management Development Program study at the Asian Institute of Management in 1994. National Unity Party (Philippines)
The National Unity Party (NUP) is a political party in the Philippines. The party was formed in 2010 by former members of Lakas–CMD, Lakas-Kampi CMD who broke away after internal discontent within the party.
