2016 Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team
The 2016 Alabama Crimson Tide football team represented the University of Alabama in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. This season marked the Crimson Tide's 122nd overall season, 83rd as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and its 25th within the SEC Western Division. They played their home games at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and were led by tenth year head coach Nick Saban. They finished the season 14–1, were SEC champions and advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship game, for the second consecutive year, where they were defeated by Clemson. Nick Saban
Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. (; born October 31, 1951) is an American football coach who has been the head football coach at the University of Alabama since 2007. Saban previously served as head coach of the National Football League's Miami Dolphins and at three other universities: Louisiana State University (LSU), Michigan State University, and the University of Toledo. Saban is considered by many to be the greatest coach in college football history. Denzel Devall
Denzel Devall (born 1994) is a former American football linebacker who played for the University of Alabama from 2012–2015. In July 2016, he started serving as a personnel assistant on the Alabama Crimson Tide football coaching staff. In January and February 2017, he was promoted first to assistant strength and conditioning coach and then promoted again to director of player development. Bryant Jacob "Jake" Coker (born August 4, 1992) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Florida State and Alabama. He won the national championship with the Alabama Crimson Tide in his senior year in 2015. Early years Coker attended St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama. A'Shawn Robinson (born March 21, 1995) is an American football defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Alabama and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Robinson was a five-star recruit out of high school, with one service listing him as the nation's top defensive tackle. Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. (born January 4, 1994) is an American football running back for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). The College Football Playoff (CFP) is an annual postseason knockout invitational tournament to determine a national champion for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level of college football competition in the United States. Four teams play in two semifinal games, and the winner of each semifinal advances to the College Football Playoff National Championship game.
