2016 Abilene Christian Wildcats Football Team
The 2016 Abilene Christian Wildcats football team represented Abilene Christian University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Wildcats were in their final transition season at the Football Championship Subdivision, FCS level. They were led by fifth-year head coach Ken Collums. They played their home games at Shotwell Stadium. The 2016 season was to be the final season for the Wildcats at Shotwell Stadium. Beginning with the 2017 season, the Wildcats' home will be the on-campus Wildcat Stadium (Abilene Christian University), Wildcat Stadium which is currently under construction. They finished the season 2–9, 2–7 in Southland play to finish in tenth place. Ken Collums
Kenneth Layne Collums (born September 15, 1972) is an American college football coach and former player. He is the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at the University of Central Arkansas, a position he has held since 2018. Collums served as the head football coach at Abilene Christian University from 2012 to 2016, compiling a record of 24–32. Prior to his promotion to head coach, for seven seasons he was the Wildcats' offensive coordinator. As a student-athlete, Collums was a four-year starting quarterback for the Central Arkansas, leading the Central Arkansas Bears football, Bears to the NAIA Football National Championship, NAIA Division I Football Championship in 1991. Cowboy Stadium
Cowboy Stadium is a 17,610-seat multi-purpose stadium in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It is home to the McNeese State Cowboys football team, and is affectionately referred to as "The Hole". It was transformed for the 2008 season to artificial turf. The playing surface is named Louis Bonnette Field, in honor of McNeese's longtime sports information director. Louis' son, Matthew, succeeded him in the post and continues to hold it as of July 2016. The playing surface was replaced prior to the 2018 football season with Hellas Matrix turf.
