2015–16 VfL Wolfsburg Season
The 2015–16 VfL Wolfsburg season was the 71st season in the club's football history. In the previous season, Wolfsburg had finished in second place and qualified for the UEFA Champions League. Additionally, they won their first DFB-Pokal trophy in the club's history, defeating Borussia Dortmund in the final. They opened their season by winning their first DFL-Supercup in the club's history by defeating Bayern Munich in the 2015 final on penalties following a 1–1 draw after 90 minutes. Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. Dante Bonfim Costa Santos (born 18 October 1983), commonly known as Dante (), is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for and captains French club Nice. Primarily a central defender, he has previously also been used as a defensive midfielder or a left back. André Schürrle
André Horst Schürrle (; born 6 November 1990) is a German former professional footballer who played as a forward. He began his career at Mainz 05 in 2009, spending two years at the club before a £6.5 million transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. His performances there gained the attention of Chelsea, who signed him for a reported £18 million in 2013. Schürrle played one-and-a-half Premier League seasons at the English club before joining VfL Wolfsburg for £22 million in January 2015, winning the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup in his first year. Christian Träsch (born 1 September 1987) is a German former professional footballer who played as a right-back or defensive midfielder. Club career Träsch had his professional debut on 3 February 2008 against Schalke 04. He scored his first goal for VfB Stuttgart on 5 October 2008 against Werder Bremen from a 25-meter volley. Julian Draxler (born 20 September 1993) is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Primeira Liga club Benfica, on loan from Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, and the Germany national team. Timm Klose (born 9 May 1988) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a centre back, most recently for Championship club Bristol City and the Switzerland national team.
