The 2015–16 Ugandan Super League is the 49th season of top-flight football in Uganda. Vipers are the defending champions having won their second championship last season. The campaign started on 22 August 2015. Teams Sixteen teams played the 2015/16 season. The top side will qualify for a qualification place in the 2017 CAF Champions League and the bottom three will be relegated to the Ugandan Big League. Ugandan Super League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. History Original concept The genesis of club football in Uganda was an idea copied from England by Balamaze Lwanga and Polycarp Kakooza. The objective was to improve Uganda's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations after disappointing results in the finals in 1962 (fourth-place finish) and 1968 (lost all three group stage matches), both held in Ethiopia. The intention was to start a Uganda National League (the forerunner of the Uganda Super League) to create the foundation for a strong national team. Lugogo Stadium
Lugogo Stadium, also known as Lugogo Cricket Oval, is a cricket ground in Kampala, Uganda. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1957 when Kenya Asians played Sunder Cricket Club. In that same year Uganda first used the ground when the national team played the Sunder Cricket Club. The ground held its inaugural first-class match when an East African Invitation XI played the touring Marylebone Cricket Club in 1963. A further first-class match followed in 1967 when a combined East Africa team played the touring Indians. The next first-class matches to be held on the ground didn't come until 2005, when Uganda played two matches there in the Intercontinental Cup against Kenya and Namibia. The Lugogo Stadium is the only cricket venue in Uganda to have held first-class cricket. Soana FC
Tooro United F.C. is a Ugandan football club from Fort Portal currently playing in the top division of Ugandan football, the Star Times Uganda Premier League. History The club was founded in 2007 as Soana F.C. and played at the Kavumba ground in Wakiso. They were named after an investments company. Soana were promoted to the Ugandan Super League for the first time in 2013, where they quickly made a name for themselves by winning their first four games of the season and ultimately finished fifth. In 2018, the club's chairman, who was from the Tooro region of Uganda, decided to move the team to Fort Portal. Since that time, Smart Obed sold the club to Mdm Alice Namatovu who has helped the club move from Big League all the way to Star Times Uganda Premier League. Bombo is a town in Luweero District in the Central Region, Uganda, Central Region of Uganda. History Many officers and soldiers of the Uganda Army (1971–1980), Uganda Army (UA) settled in Bombo upon their retirement during the Second Republic of Uganda (1971–79). At the time, many inhabitants were Nubians (Uganda), Nubians, an ethnic group whose members were viewed as supporters of President Idi Amin. Simba FC
Simba is a fictional character and the protagonist of Disney's ''The Lion King'' franchise. Kyabazinga Stadium
The Kyabazinga of Busoga is the ruler of the Kingdom of Busoga in Uganda. ''Isebantu'' means "father of the people." This name was a symbol of unity derived from the expression and recognition by the people of Busoga that their leader was the "father of all people who brings all of them together", and who also serves as their cultural leader. Bugembe is a town in Jinja District in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It is the seat of the Kingdom of Busoga, one of the four constitutional in Uganda, which is coterminous with the Busoga sub-region. Kansai Plascon FC (formerly known as Sadolin Paints FC) are a Ugandan football club from Bugembe, Uganda. They were relegated from the Uganda Premier League in the 2016–17 season and currently play in the FUFA Big League. They were promoted from the FUFA Big League in 2013-14 and spent three years in the Uganda Premier League. Police FC (Uganda)
Police FC is a football club from Kampala in Uganda. History They have won their first Ugandan league title in 2005 and the CECAFA Clubs Cup in 2006. Police was spurred on in the early years by Dennis Obua as a player and later as coach. During Obua's years, he managed to stage youthful players who have blossomed into really great talent. When Obua became the Federation of Uganda Football Association president, he hired Steven Mulinde to step in his shoes.
