2015–16 Slovak First Football League
The 2015–16 Slovak First Football League (known as the Slovak Fortuna Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 23rd season of the first-tier football league in Slovakia since its establishment in 1993. AS Trenčín were the defending champions, after winning their 1st Slovak championship. Teams A total of 12 teams competed in the league, including 10 sides from the 2014–15 season and two who were promoted from the 2. liga. Relegation for MFK Košice and FK Dukla Banská Bystrica to the 2015–16 DOXXbet liga was confirmed on 30 May 2015. These two relegated teams were replaced by 2. liga champion MFK Zemplín Michalovce and 2. liga runner-up MFK Skalica. Both teams made their debut at the highest level. Despite that MFK Košice finished as 6th, they did not obtain a licence for the 2015–16 season. The Slovak Super Liga is the top level football league in Slovakia, currently known as the Fortuna Liga due to a sponsorship arrangement. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is eleven, held by Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. FK Senica
FK Senica () is a Slovak football team, based in the town of Senica. The club was founded in 1921. History FK Senica was founded in 1921. Podbrezová
Podbrezová (; hu, Zólyombrézó) is a large village and municipality in Brezno District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia, around 10 km west of the district seat town, Brezno. Dunajská Streda (; hu, Dunaszerdahely; german: Niedermarkt; he, דונהסרדהיי) is a town located in southern Slovakia ( Trnavský kraj). Dunajská Streda is the most culturally significant town in the Žitný ostrov area. The town has a population of 22,730, with ethnic Hungarians forming the 72% majority. Name The name of ''Syridahel'' was first mentioned in 1256. Other early written forms of the name were ''Zeredahely'' (1270) and ''Zredahel'' (1358). FC VSS Košice was a Slovak football club based in Košice which played in the Slovak 2. Liga during the 2016–17 season. The club officially ceased operations on 27 July 2017.
