2015–16 SHL Season
The 2015–16 SHL season was the 41st season of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The regular season began in September 2015 and ended in March 2016. The playoffs were played in March–April 2016. Modo Hockey and Karlskrona HK were forced to play in the SHL qualifiers to defend their SHL status. Karlskrona won their series against AIK in five games while Modo lost to Leksands IF over seven games. Therefore, Leksand were promoted to the SHL on the expense of Modo. Swedish Hockey League
The Swedish Hockey League (officially SHL; sv, Svenska Hockeyligan) is a professional ice hockey league, and the highest division in the Swedish ice hockey system. The league currently consists of 14 teams. The league was founded in 1975, and while Swedish ice hockey champions have been crowned through various formats since 1922, the title and the Le Mat Trophy have been awarded to the winner of the SHL playoffs since the league's inaugural 1975–76 season. In the 2010–11 season, the SHL was the world's most evenly matched professional ice hockey league. During the 2011–12 season, the SHL was the most well attended ice hockey league in Europe, averaging 6,385 spectators per game, however in 2013–14, the SHL was third best in Europe, with an attendance average of 5,978. Brynäs IF
Brynäs IF is a Swedish ice hockey team from Gävle. The club currently plays in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the top tier of ice hockey in Sweden. The club has played in the top-tier league since 1960, longer than any other team. History Brynäs IF was formed by Nils Norin, Ferdinand Blomkvist, and Thure Ternström on 12 May 1912 and began to play ice hockey in 1939. The club has also competed in association football, athletics, bandy, swimming, and water polo. Andrew Gordon (ice Hockey)
Andrew Jacob Gordon (born December 13, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks and the Vancouver Canucks. Playing career Gordon was born and raised in Nova Scotia, where he also played his minor hockey. He was a member of the Dartmouth Subways Midget 'AAA' team that won the silver medal at the 2002 Air Canada Cup, Canada's national midget championship. Andreas Karl Johnsson (born 21 November 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), winger for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Richard Gynge (born 1 February 1987 in Tyresö) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player, currently an unrestricted free agent. Patrik Zackrisson (born March 27, 1987) is a professional Swedish ice hockey centre. He is currently playing for Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career Zackrisson spent his junior career with Frölunda HC before moving to play one season with Rögle BK in the HockeyAllsvenskan, and then signing with Linköpings HC, where he spent four seasons.
