2015–16 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2015–16 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 35th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season started on 27 November 2015 in Kuusamo, Finland, and ended on 12 March 2016 in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Therese Johaug set a new record for total points in one season, with 2681. Martin Johnsrud Sundby set a new men's record for total points in one season, with 2634. Sundby won 14 races during the season and surpassed Petter Northug's record of nine victories which he achieved in both 2009–10 and 2012–13. Johaug won 17 races during this season and equaled Marit Bjørgen's record from 2011–12; a record Johaug herself eclipsed with 20 victories in the 2019–20 season. Petter Northug
Petter Northug Jr. (born 6 January 1986) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier and double Olympic champion. He won a total of 13 World Championship and two Winter Olympic gold medals with 20 medals overall (two gold, one silver and one bronze at the Olympics, 13 gold and three silver at the World Ski Championships), and 18 individual FIS Cross-Country World Cup wins with 13 podium places. He is also the record holder for most stage wins (13) in Tour de Ski. By winning his ninth gold medal in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 4 × 10 km relay in Val di Fiemme 2013 he leveled the achievement of Bjørn Dæhlie who had been the most successful World Champion male skier up to that point. Finn Hågen Krogh
Finn Hågen Krogh, born 6 September 1990) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who has competed at FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. Career Krogh was born in Alta. He is of Sami and Norwegian descent. Krogh represents Tverrelvdalen IL. In addition to being a cross-country skier, he played for Tverrelvdalen's senior football team in the 3. divisjon before he had to choose between football and skiing. As Krogh was selected for the youth national team in cross-country skiing, he chose to quit football, but said in an interview with Norwegian TV 2 in 2011 that he believes he could have been a professional Tippeligaen player if he had chosen football ahead of skiing. Sjur Røthe
Sjur Røthe (born 2 July 1988) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He is a three-time World champion. Career He made his World Cup debut in March 2009 in Trondheim, but did not finish the race, and collected his first World Cup points in November 2009 in Beitostølen, with an eighteenth place. A fifteenth place in a 4 × 10 km relay race followed. He represents the sports club Voss IL, and lives in Oslo. He was diagnosed with Bekhterev's disease. Niklas Dyrhaug (born 6 July 1987) is a Norwegian, former cross-country skier. He competed in the World Cup for ten years. He represented Norway at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2015 in Falun winning a gold medal in the 4 × 10 km relay. He also represented Norway at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti Lahti (; sv, Lahtis) is a city and municipality in Finland. Dario Cologna (born 11 March 1986) is a Swiss cross-country skier. He has four overall World Cup victories, four Olympic gold medals, one World Championships gold medal and four Tour de Ski victories in his career. On 3 November 2021, he announced his retirement from cross-country skiing following the 2021–2022 season. Early life Cologna is a native Rumantsch speaker. Alex Harvey (skier)
Alex Harvey (; born 7 September 1988) is a retired Canadian cross-country skier who competed between 2005 and 2019. Harvey is also a member of the Quebec Provincial Cycling Team. Career In 2008 Harvey finished third both in the (Team sprint: Whistler Olympic Park, and the 50 km: Trondheim). He also competed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec, finishing fifth in the 4 x 10 km, 22nd in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit, 28th in the individual sprint, and 36th in the 15 km events. In the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, Harvey finished fourth in the team sprint with teammate Devon Kershaw. This is the best placing ever for Canadian men in an Olympic cross-country competition. Sondre Turvoll Fossli
Sondre Turvoll Fossli (born 10 August 1993) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who competed between 2010 and 2019. He won his only World Cup race in the individual classic sprint event in Rukatunturi on 27 November 2015. On 12 August, 2019, Fossli suffered sudden cardiac arrest while out on a car ride with his girlfriend in Oslo. Paramedics were able to get his heart beating again by using a defibrillator and he was subsequently hospitalized at Oslo University Hospital. He spent ten days at the hospital, but the physicians were not able to find the cause why his heart stopped beating. The 2019–20 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 39th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 29 November 2019 in Ruka, Finland and concluded on 8 March 2020 in Oslo, Norway. The Sprint Tour, a stage event scheduled in Quebec City and Minneapolis on 14–17 March 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The same reason forced the cancellation of World Cup scheduled in Canmore on 20–22 March 2020, including mixed relay.
