The 2015–16 season was Carlisle United's 111th season in their history and their second consecutive season in League Two. Along with League Two, the club will also compete in the FA Cup, League Cup and League Trophy. The season covers the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016. Carlisle United F
Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril. It is the administrative centre of the City of Carlisle district which, (along with Cumbria County Council) will be replaced by Cumberland Council in April 2023. The city became an established settlement during the Roman Empire to serve forts on Hadrian's Wall. During the Middle Ages, the city was an important military stronghold due to its proximity to the Kingdom of Scotland. Antony Sweeney
Antony Thomas Sweeney (born 5 September 1983) is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He played in the Football League for Hartlepool United and Carlisle United. He is a first team coach at Hartlepool United. In thirteen seasons with Hartlepool, he made 444 appearances, making him the third highest appearance maker in the club's history. During his time there he won the player of the year award for the 2010–11 season and won two promotions out of the fourth tier. Patrick John Brough (born 20 February 1996) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Northampton Town. Career Carlisle United Brough began his career with Carlisle United and made his professional debut in a 3–3 draw (4-3 win on penalties) against Blackburn Rovers on 7 August 2013 in the Football League Cup. Charles Thomas Wyke (born 6 December 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Championship club Wigan Athletic. Career Middlesbrough Wyke started his career in the academy at Middlesbrough and progressed through the system. Martin Smith (born 2 October 1995) is an English footballer who plays as a midfielder for South Shields. Career Smith began his career with Sunderland and had a loan spell with non-league Gateshead in November 2015. In March 2016 Smith joined League Two side Carlisle United on loan until the end of the 2015–16 season. He made his professional debut on 19 March 2016 in a 1–1 draw against Wycombe Wanderers. Jason Brian Kennedy (born 11 September 1986) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Marske United. David Atkinson (born 27 April 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for club Shildon. He played in the Football League for Carlisle United. Michael Bernard Raynes (born 15 October 1987) is an English former professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Stockport Town. Luke James Joyce (born 9 July 1987) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Radcliffe. Joyce came through the youth team at Wigan Athletic to make his first-team debut in January 2006.
