2015 Tour Of Croatia
The 2015 Tour of Croatia was the first edition of the Tour of Croatia cycling stage race. It started on 22 April in Makarska and ended on 26 April in Zagreb, and consisted of five stages. It was part of the 2015 UCI Europe Tour, and was rated as a 2.1 event. The race was won by Maciej Paterski (), who also won two stages, the points classification and the mountains classification. The second-placed rider was Primož Roglič (), while Paterski's teammate Sylwester Szmyd was third. also won the team competition. Race overview Teams 19 teams were invited to take part in the race. Three were UCI Professional Continental teams, fifteen were UCI Continental teams, while the peloton was completed by an Italian national team. 2015 UCI Europe Tour
The 2015 UCI Europe Tour was the eleventh season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2015 season began on 29 January 2015 with the Vuelta a Mallorca, Trofeo Santanyí-Ses Salines-Campos and ended on 25 October 2015 with the Tour of Aegean. The points leader, based on the cumulative results of previous races, wears the UCI Europe Tour cycling jersey. Tom Van Asbroeck of Belgium is the defending champion of the 2014 UCI Europe Tour. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Zadar
Zadar ( , ; historically known as Zara (from Venetian and Italian: ); see also other names), is the oldest continuously inhabited Croatian city. Sveti Martin Na Muri
Sveti Martin na Muri (, "St-Martin-on-the- Mur") is a village and municipality in Međimurje County, in northern Croatia. History In Ancient time Roman settlement ''Halicanum'' stood on the site of today's village Sveti Martin na Muri. Settlement was located on the Roman road that led from Poetovio to Carnuntum. In year 1334 Sveti Martin na Muri was recorded as Catholic parish named ''Sancti Martini'' in Census of parishes of Zagreb Diocese. In the late 16th century, the nobleman Nicolaus Malakoczy built a castle in the village of Lapšina. The castle fell into disrepair during 19th century and by the 1930s it was completely demolished. In year 1911 in the hamlet of Vučkovec mineral water was found while drilling for oil. Umag
Umag (; it, Umago) is a coastal town in Istria, Croatia. Geography It is the westernmost town of Croatia, and it includes Bašanija, the westernmost point of Croatia. Population Umag has a population of 7,281, with a total municipal population of 13,467 (2011 census). Like many other towns in Istria, Umag has a multi-ethnic population. Učka
The Učka ([], it, Monte Maggiore) is a mountain range in western Croatia. It rises behind the Opatija riviera, on the eastern side of the Istrian peninsula. It forms a single morphological unit together with the Ćićarija range which stretches from the Bay of Trieste to Rijeka. Plitvice Lakes National Park
Plitvice Lakes National Park ( hr, Nacionalni park Plitvička jezera, colloquially ''Plitvice'', ) is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, due to its outstanding and picturesque series of tufa lakes, caves, connected by waterfalls. The national park was founded in 1949 and is in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
