The 2015 State of the Nation Address was the sixth and last State of the Nation Address delivered by President Benigno Aquino III. Seating and guests Two former president of the Philippines, Joseph Estrada and Fidel Ramos were among the attendees of the SONA. Address content and delivery The speech was the longest of State of the Nation Address in recent Philippine history upon its completion at 2 hours and 13 minutes. He discussed the list of priority bills set at least until 2016, attributed his problems to his predecessor, and thanked his cabinet and all other people who assisted him. Batasang Pambansa
The Batasang Pambansa Complex, or simply the Batasan (), is the seat of the House of Representatives of the Philippines. It is located along the Batasan Road in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The complex was initially the home of the Batasang Pambansa, the former legislature of the Philippines which was established as Interim Batasang Pambansa, an interim assembly in 1978 and finally as Regular Batasang Pambansa, an official body in 1984. Under the 1973 Constitution of the Philippines, Constitution, it replaced the bicameral Congress of the Philippines established under the 1935 Commonwealth Constitution. When the bicameral Congress was restored in 1987, the complex was set aside as the home of the House of Representatives. Typhoon Haiyan
Typhoon Haiyan, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Yolanda, was one of the most powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded. On making landfall, Haiyan devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines. It is one of the deadliest Philippine typhoons on record, killing at least 6,300 people in that country alone. In terms of JTWC-estimated 1-minute sustained winds, Haiyan is tied with Meranti in 2016 for being the second strongest landfalling tropical cyclone on record, only behind Goni of 2020. As of January 2014, bodies were still being found. Haiyan was also the most intense tropical cyclone worldwide in 2013. This typhoon is also the second deadliest typhoon in the Philippines. The Mamasapano clash was a shootout that took place during a police operation by the Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on January 25, 2015, in Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, then-undivided Maguindanao (which is now Maguindanao del Sur). 2013 Zamboanga City Crisis
The Zamboanga City crisis (Filipino: ''Krisis sa Zamboanga;'' Chavacano: ''Crisis na Zamboanga'') or Zamboanga Siege was an armed conflict in Zamboanga City, Philippines between the government forces of the Philippines and Moro rebels from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) that began on September 9, 2013 and ended twenty days later on September 28. The conflict began when MNLF rebels, under the command of Nur Misuari, attempted to occupy several coastal communities in Zamboanga City in protest of the Philippine government's failure to implement the 1996 final peace agreement with the MNLF. The conflict resulted in the displacement of 120,000 civilians and the destruction of 10,000 homes.
