2015 San Jose SaberCats Season
The San Jose SaberCats season was the team's 19th in San Jose, California. The team was coached by Darren Arbet and played their home games at the SAP Center at San Jose. They finished first in the Pacific Division with a 17–1 regular season record and went on to defeat the Jacksonville Sharks 68–47 in ArenaBowl XXVIII. Season summary The SaberCats, following a tough loss to the Arizona Rattlers in the 2014 National Conference Championship Game, made a number of key moves in the 2014–15 offseason. The most notable of these moves saw the SaberCats sign quarterback Erik Meyer, the 2013 AFL MVP, to replace outgoing quarterback Russ Michna. Darren Arbet
Darren Arbet (born November 26, 1962) is a former Arena Football League head coach for the San Jose SaberCats and current general manager and head coach of the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League. He has a career record of 169-73, including four titles, ArenaBowl XVI, ArenaBowl XVIII, ArenaBowl XXI, and ArenaBowl XXVIII. Early life Arbet attended Edison High School in Stockton, California, where he was a standout in football and track & field. Luis Vasquez (American Football)
Luis Guillermo Vasquez (born April 23, 1986) is an American football defensive lineman who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Arizona State University. College career Vasquez signed to play with the Purdue Boilermakers football team in 2004, where he redshirted during the 2004 season. Vasquez transferred to Arizona Western College, where he was named the Western States Football League Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. Vasquez had originally committed to Washington State, but when Robb Akey left to take the head coaching job at Idaho, Vasquez decommited and chose Arizona State. Nicholas Pertuit (born April 7, 1983) is a retired American football placekicker. He played college soccer at the University of the Incarnate Word and attended Billings Senior High School in Billings, Montana. He has been a member of the Abilene Ruff Riders, Iowa Barnstormers, San Jose SaberCats and Arizona Rattlers. Odie Armstrong
Odie Armstrong (born September 30, 1981) is a former American football fullback. He played college football at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Orlando Predators in 2008. Early life Armstrong attended Vardaman High School where he was a standout on the football team. During his high school career, Armstrong ran for 5,838 yards and 104 touchdowns. During his senior year, Armstrong set a Mississippi state record with 39 rushing touchdowns. Richard Ranglin (born September 27, 1984) is a former American football offensive lineman. He was signed out of the Arena Football League in May 2012 by the Kansas City Chiefs. College career Ranglin was a four-year letterman at Central Connecticut State University from 2003 to 2007, He Ranglin earned second-team All-Northeast Conference honors. George Bussey (born October 24, 1984) is a former American football offensive guard. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Colin Madison (born June 13, 1989) is a former American football offensive lineman. Madison initially played football at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park, IL; following his graduation, he attended Temple University. Madison started a total of twenty-eight games at Temple. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2011. In 2012, Madison made his AFL debut with the Chicago Rush. Jeff Maddux
Jeff Maddux (born August 6, 1988) is a former American football offensive lineman. He played football at Monroe High School in Monroe, Michigan; following his graduation, he attended Central Michigan University from 2006 to 2010. Maddux saw ample playing time during his tenure at Central Michigan; over four seasons with the Chippewas, he started some 47 games as an offensive guard. Following his graduation from Central Michigan University, Maddux joined the Arena Football League's Cleveland Gladiators. Earl Benjamin Nelson (born May 17, 1941) is an American attorney, businessman, and politician who served as the 37th governor of Nebraska from 1991 to 1999 and as a United States Senator from Nebraska from 2001 to 2013. Reggie Gray (born April 29, 1984) is an American football wide receiver and kickoff returner who is currently a free agent. High school Gray attended Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he was a team captain and led his team to the 2001 City Championship, in which they defeated Dunbar in a shootout.
