In principle, the term ''borough'' designates a self-governing walled town, although in practice, official use of the term varies widely. 2015 United Kingdom Local Elections
The 2015 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 7 May 2015, the same day as the general election for the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. With the exception of those areas that have had boundary changes, the council seats up for election in England were last contested in the 2011 local elections.
